“Turnstone Cottage, Budle Bay”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2021

We stayed at Turnstone Cottage for 5 days during the Easter break as soon as Covid restrictions would permit. We had read the reviews before we booked and it didn’t disappoint! The cottage is beautiful, in an excellent location and the best equipped house we have ever stayed in. We were a family of 2 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of room, everything was clean and Covid safe and the children were so excited to have 2 bedrooms to choose from. Mike the owner couldn’t do enough for us. He let us know directions as to how to get there and the best places to visit once we arrived. There was an amazing welcome pack with bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee, sugar and plenty of sweet treats for the kids. There was even a banner and a badge for our daughter who’s birthday it was on the day we arrived and a beautiful card for the family. We met Mike on the last day, what a nice guy. It was our first visit to Northumberland and everywhere we went it was simply magical. We were lucky with the weather and it was sunny every day. Bamburgh Castle and beach was breathtaking and the kids played in the sand dunes every day. Lindesfarne/Holy Island was so serene and picturesque we had to go twice! We had lunch on another day in Berwick and a wander around the shops. We walked along the beach from Bamburgh to Seahouses and had the most amazing fish and chips and just when we thought things couldn’t get any better we had an evening stroll down to Budle Bay which is situated across the road from the cottage and it was stunning. This then became our regular haunt after dinner most days. We can’t believe that we’ve never been to this part of the country before we feel lucky to have found it and can’t wait to rebook again. Highly recommended.
