“A beautiful journey back in time.”

Reviewed 28 May 2013

Villa Cabbiavoli is a wonderful place. The views over the Tuscan hills are amazing. It breaths the history of Italian gentry. We were treated like family guests by the the staff who are extremely helpful and friendly. They found the right tone between keeping a distance not interfering with our `family life' and being there when needed. We booked this villa as we do not want to stay in impersonal luxury hotels with our extended family. You do have to sacrifice some of the luxury as the bathrooms are slightly dated and the pool is not heated. This will not stop us from coming back sometime in the coming years. There was an issue with showers turning hot and cold but staff said this would be addressed.

“Fascinating place, wish we could've stayed for longer. . .”

Reviewed 28 Jan 2013

First of all, the Tuscan countryside is magical -- the scenery, rolling hills and colours are all enhanced by the special light of Tuscany and the air is fragrant from blossoms. Second, the comfort and pleasures of a home are increased by the welcome and help given. We were welcomed warmly. The manager, Stefano's, wife went to the trouble of driving down with us to the supermarket. Stefano himself is brilliant -- he is calm, jovial and very efficient. He even took the trouble to connect with the people in Rome (for our next leg) when we couldn't get through and gave them our contact number. The apartment Ciliego is large and comfortable. The windows look out on some lovely scenery. Details, like netting on all windows, two way light switches on the stairs, are much appreciated. Apartment is very clean, we appreciated the recycling and garbage disposal facilities. Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and very clean. Just two negatives 1/ the voltage seems quite low, lights are not bright enough for reading. 2/ the shower cubicles are tiny, I kept hitting my elbows all the time and had to towel down with the sliding door open and I am not large. All of us loved the old armoires in the bedrooms and the art objects in the living area. Most of all we loved the fact that the apartment was beautiful and comfortable, but not so fancy that we had to tiptoe around!
