“Very comfortable accommodation & pleasant hosts in beautiful set”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2013

Cider apple Cottage was the perfect housing for 4 american university students, participants in a study abroad course for 4 weeks in June 2013. With 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and common sitting, eating and kitchen areas, the cottage is quite spacious and includes a delightful private patio used regularly by the 12 people in the full group for discussions, meals & relaxing. The location of the cottage is perfect for shorts trips to Glastonbury, Wells, Wookey Hole, Cheddar or Bath, the shore at Burnham-on-Sea, shopping in Street, and is convenient to major thoroughfares for longer jaunts to places like Stonehenge and to South West locations in Devon and Cornwall. Drives in the countryside are exquisite if changing landscapes & vistas are your pleasure, as they are mine. Photographers, sketchers, painters, poets and other artists will find a wealth of subject matter in the area. The Denbees are most congenial hosts, responsive with information about the area as well as providing comfortable, spotless accommodations. The self-catering cottage includes a well-stocked kitchen, easy recycling and composting disposal, clothes and dish washers, free wi-fi and, if you stay long enough, as we did, to use the initial basket of wood provided for the burner, additional wood is available for a very small fee. Cider apple Cottage is delightful as are the Denbees. It's a good place for a group of friends, a family or members of a larger group needing expanded accommodation.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for writing such an amazing review. I'm so glad that you had such a good time when you were staying with us. I hope to meet you again one day. Penny.

“One for the books!”

Located on the Denby's working farm,I cannot state too many positive accolades about Pear Tree Cottages. In Cider apple, I placed 4 university-aged students at this cottages, with constant visits from 6 more who were placed elsewhere, for 24 days. It was the perfect accommodation. The bedrooms are sizable as well as comfortable. The kitchen/dining and living area are as well. We cooked many meals for 12 and had plenty of dishes, glassware, and cooking implements to make great food. The patio in the back is a wonderful extension to the living space. With a table/umbrella and chairs surrounded by plantings and the sounds of the English countryside, this proved to be a perfect place for all of us to eat, hang out, or have meetings. The cottage is just 1 1/2 miles from the beautiful village of Wedmore. There are wonderful pubs, restaurants and shopping opportunities in Wedmore as well as many other places nearby. You can easily get to Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Burnham-on-Sea, and of course, Glastonbury within a half-hour drive. Then, you get to come home to a warm fire and the quiet of rural life. The service that the Denbys offer is impeccable. Comfy bedding and towels are just the tip of the iceberg. I highly recommend this cottage!

Response from the owner Thank you so much for this review. It is amazing. It was a pleasure to meet the students and see them enjoying themselves so much and I think that you were incredible to organize such a trip. Well done. I hope to meet you again one day. Penny.
