5 The Priory is a 1 bedroom ground floor apartment situated in a Victorian former gentlemen's residence overlooking Shanklin and Sandown Bay. The building stands above lush woodland grounds and is situated in a quiet yet convenient position on the coastal path on the outskirts of Shanklin, adjacent to National Trust land extending to Luccombe Chine and the Downs. The apartment has been furnished to a very high standard and provides comfortable accommodation. The good sized private decked terrace provides spectacular sea views and is ideal for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine whilst soaking up the relaxing and peaceful surroundings.The apartment is ideally situated for those wishing to explore the miles of coastal and country footpaths that surround the property. Wonderful scenery can be enjoyed along these nearby walks.The popular resort of Shanklin is within walking distance and provides a variety of shops, supermarkets, banks and eating places. To the south of the High Street and towards The Priory lies the picturesque thatched Old Village with its pubs, tearooms and gift shops. Near to the Old Village is Shanklin Chine, a natural wooded gorge, and Rylstone Gardens, a relaxing park with crazy golf and tea gardens in a flower filled setting.The long safe sandy beach is on a lower level. One can walk, use the lift or drive down to the seafront. Coastal paths make for scenic walking to neighbouring Sandown or in the other direction to the pretty village of Luccombe, and through the winding paths of the landslip to Bonchurch and Ventnor beyond. Sandown and Shanklin on the south-east coast share a wide crescent of golden sand, with safe swimming, water sports and a range of bars, pubs and cafés. The southern stretch, below Shanklin Chine, is the quietest and most attractive.Ventnor has a wonderful Mediterranean feel and, like Sandown and Shanklin, an enviable sunshine record. Steephill Cove is its prettiest beach, a peaceful little bay with a good beach café. Reach it via the coastal footpath from the Botanic Gardens, or La Falaise car park in Ventnor. Godshill is the quintessential English Village with its charming thatch-roofed cottages and winding main street lined with many tearooms, lovely pubs and shops. There are numerous coastal paths around the Island. Whale Chine is the most spectacular in a series of Chines along this stretch of coastline towards Freshwater. The accommodation: Entry phone system. Communal hallway leads to front door of apartment 5. The private entrance hallway leads to: Open plan living room, dining room & kitchen - a lovely room with spectacular views over Shanklin & Sandown Bay and the English channel, France can be seen on a clear day. Living area with chaise sofabed, dining table and chairs. Linen not provided for sofabed. The living room has solid hardwood oak floor with French doors to private decked terrace area. Kitchen area well fitted with a good range of floor and wall mounted units and appliances, tiled floor. Double bedroom with king sized bed, ample storage space providing views to Shanklin & Sandown Bay and the English channel. Bedside tables with lamps and clock. Drawers with table mirror and 3 door wardrobe and one door with a mirror . Bathroom fully tiled with suite comprising bath with shower over, hand held shower, WC, WHB, heated towel rail. Outside - There is a good sized enclosed private decked area with table & chairs, ideal for alfresco dining or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening whilst soaking up the fantastic sea and coastal view. There are also delightful communal landscaped woodland grounds with garden furniture providing a restful haven for guests.

“Wonderful apartment with a fantastic sea view”

The apartment is lovely, beautifully decorated, spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed. The view from the lounge, and the outdoor terrace overlooking Shanklin and the sea is just perfect. Loads of off road parking. It is right on the coastal path. It is up a steep hill so just take note. Great communication wit the owner also. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

The apartment was beautifully clean and really comfortable. Everything was there that you need and the views of course were just fabulous. It was really lovely holiday and the apartment definitely made it even better. Would highly recommend staying there.

“Great location”

This apartment has a fantastic view over the bay looking towards culver down. Equipment levels are very high and on arrival the rooms were spotlessly clean ideal retreat to explore the island or just to sit and relax on the balcony there are lots of walks around the cliffs and beaches, best place I have stayed on the island, parents in law are booking the same apartment this week
