Description

Thatch End Cottage is a lovingly restored cottage which has been in the same family for over 50 years. Located in the pretty village of Baslow, on the path which leads directly to Chatsworth park, it is ideal for groups of all ages and interests. Whether walking in the Peaks, exploring the local towns, villages and attractions, mountain biking or simply relaxing, eating and drinking, Thatch End Cottage provides a cosy but spacious base for groups of 7 -10 (including sofa bed and occasional bed)
Thatch End is deceptive as its cottage appearance belies the space inside , which allows for groups to either be together or in separate spaces depending on preference! There are two large reception rooms, and although the kitchen is smaller in size it has all modern amenities and leads directly to the dining room, allowing the chef to chat to dinner guests whilst cooking.
Two large bedrooms upstairs have double beds and bedroom one has ample room for one or two additional beds making it ideal for families or groups. The third bedroom is smaller and has a triple sleeper bunk to maximise the space.
One family size bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, basin and W.C. A further shower room has a good size shower cubicle, basin and W.C. There is also an additional W.C. on the ground floor.
Outside is an enclosed garden and private parking space.

Although the cottage will comfortably accomodate 10 using extra beds, it does not feel too large for the smaller party of say 4, and is ideal for a weekend away with friends.
Groups such as walkers or well behaved Hen and Stag parties are welcome. The tiled hallway is ideal for storing muddy boots and coats. If you have an occasion such as a hen party then it may be possible to help you to plan your weekends activities- please ask.
If you are attending a wedding at nearby Chatsworth why not make a week of it. The large bedrooms give ample room to get ready for such an event - even if you are the bride!

Whatever your plans- we will do our best to help as we want you to enjoy the cottage and surrounding areas as much as we do!

Dogs are permitted but must not be allowed onto the carpeted areas (lounge,stairs or bedrooms) and must not be allowed on the furniture. If dogs are are let into any of those areas then an additional cleaning fee of £30 will be deducted from the damage deposit.

“Stunning Cottage in perfect location”

This cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, and is located in a perfect location. We stayed for 3 nights and the car never moved during our stay. The accommodation is very traditional and cosy, just like a cottage should be. The whole process of booking, checking in and out very well managed by the owner, who was always available and quick to respond to any questions or queries. The information booklet was very informative. The cottage was spotlessly clean.

We had a wonderful stay in Baslow. The cottage is superbly equipped with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living and dining room. The kitchen is perfect: a large equipment (dishwasher, microwave, gas stove and lots of crockery). We felt right at home and spent a wonderful week in the cottage. We can only recommend the accommodation! We are happy to come back at any time!

Third visit, and second Christmas in this charming cottage. Five minutes from The Chatsworth estate, several pubs and places to eat (we love the Devonshire Arms, two minutes away), a babbling stream outside your window, oak beams and a log burner, what more could you want? Kitchen is a little bit small but I managed to cook Christmas dinner for seven of us and, as it’s open to the dining room you don’t feel cut off from the other guests. There is only parking for one car but we had five cars there altogether and had no problems parking within a few yards. The Chatsworth farm shop is worth a visit (lovely cafe), pricey but delicious fayre, worth every penny. Will definitely be returning.
