Description from owner

Description

Looking for a holiday in the UK? This is ideal. The Lodge , located between Bideford, Clovelly and Bude, sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms; a double with en-suite, and 2 twin rooms. The main area consists of a spacious and sociable open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. There is a South facing balcony leading to an enclosed garden area. Its location on the edge of the site gives views across farmland. The quiet and peaceful setting of the Lodge make it a great place to escape to. A wonderful location for a family holiday to explore NW Devon and Cornwall. A car is almost essential for this holiday. A car can be parked adjacent to the lodge. Some of the most beautiful and quiet beaches are within 15 minutes and day visits to Dartmoor, Bodmin, Eden Project and Padstow are easily manageable. If you want to spend a day locally there is a well stocked private fishing lake that you will have access to.

Response from the owner Thank you Fran for your review on your recent stay at The Devon Lodge. We are pleased you were able to use it as a base and that you enjoyed exploring Devon & Cornwall. Also, that you were grateful and benefited from the early check-in, as specifically requested. We were however, surprised at some of your comments after our communication. The Trip Adviser website stated that 'Hartland Forest consists of self contained lodges spread across a large remote 114 acre area'. It does not say exactly how many lodges on site but that you are 'on the edge of the site'. As it is set in the valley, it is peaceful and quiet. On the Thursday pm before you left, you did report the dishwasher as not working; however, you did also state that it didn't worry you as you were leaving the next morning. After your visit, the caretaker checked the dishwasher and reported back that it was working perfectly. The next and indeed, previous tenants have not reported any problems with the hot water or the dishwasher. The Devon Lodge is listed a 'rural retreat' and 'relaxation'. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, mobile reception is very poor at night in the valley with Vodafone having the best reception. It is reasonable during the day. The Devon Lodge is also our family holiday home. Tucked away, hidden under the king-size bed are a few boxes with personal items that have 'Owners personal property' on them. Our cleaners do charge extra for removal of rubbish to the bins - which are passed on the exit to Hartland Forest. The electricity is all inclusive on the proviso that you switch off everything when you leave. We hope explains some of your comments. Ian & Sarah Moore
