“Return to Bat watch”
This was our second stay at the Devon Lodge. The owners personally supplied us with the lodge key and gave us a good briefing on the new facilities at the Lodge as well as information about local places to visit. We were supplied with clear written directions to the lodge via email. This was useful for two of the party that had not been there before The accomodation is outstanding. There were six in our party but eight would have been no problem. A perfect television picture with free sat. There was also a video and DVD player - All easy to operate - Washing up was no problem with a full size dishwasher. The kitchen was very well equipped. Hot water always available at the flick of a switch. We very appreciated the fact that there were waste recycling facilities on the site. There is a large deck/balcony with seating outside. Great for sitting down to read, playing cards or for meals in the fresh air. The three bedrooms (one onsuite) are all very comfortable. Simply but tastefully decorated. Off 'track' parking next to lodge. We did some beautiful walks that included the South Coast path to Clovelly and the estury at appledore. My daughter and I hired bicycles at Barnstable and cycled 28 miles on the amazing Tarka trail - All off road. There is a very useful folder at the lodge containg leaflets of the local attractions. The lodge is in a very peaceful area. Lovely wildlife with the bats coming out at 830pm every day. Also plenty of sightings of Geese and many other birds. There is nothing to dislike about the Devon Lodge. It is set in a tranquil location but you do not have to travel far for great places to visit. A welcome place to come back to after a long day out. We hope to return soon
“Amazing week at The Devon Lodge”
We returned this Summer to the Devon lodge. The weather forecast was not good but turned out to be wrong. We were on the beach most days until the evening, the children were body boarding and rockpooling and kite flying. We spent our time at Duckpool, Sandymouth, Croyde and Bude. Fantastic week, would highly recommend. Didn't spend too much time in the Lodge as we were out each day but the accommodation is of very high standard, it was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped for eating in and maps, games, etc.
“A wonderful, relaxing place to stay - Perfect !”
This was our first stay in a lodge and it was wonderful. The lodge is located in a secluded part of the park away from the main complex of lodges and not directly overlooked. It was reasonably spacious and very warm without any heating. It was also very well appointed and very comfortable - we could not fault it. It has everything you need, bring your own CDs, Dvds, Videos if you wish. The area is largely unspoilt and not touristy (except Clovelly). The location is Ideal, only a few minutes from the a38, which allows you to explore the rest of Devon and Cornwall. High points for us were coast walk from the NT carpark to Hartlant point (you can return via the road to savew time), tea and cake at Hartland point, Hartland Quay, Lynton and Lynmouth, Appledore, and the excellent Pasties from Pengally Pasties in Bude (wasn't impressed with Bude though. Local Morrisons were good, Waitrose too, but a bit out of the way. The lakes opposite the lodge are good for a walk, and you can fish there too. There is a medium sized garden and wonderful decked veranda. The area is good for cycling too - we wished we had discovered it when our children were younger. Ideal for couples, families, everyone. Ideal accommodation in an excellent location which has something for everyone - Recommended.
“A great base for a great holiday”
Another great week in the Devon Lodge has flown by! The lodge has proved once again to be a great location to spend a week in Devon. The lodge is well equipped, comfortable and spacious..a real home-from-home. We spent most days on the beach (in the surf with the dog when it rained, relaxing in the sun when it made an appearance. Putsbough and Widemouth proved to be the best! Bude proved to be good for crabbing at high tide with the local fishing shop selling everything we needed. My son and I enjoyed some good fishing at the onsite lakes with a 13 pound carp being the biggest catch for him. A great place to relax and have some fun.
“Wonderful relaxing holiday”
The Devon Lodge is ideally situation for exploring the North Devon/Cornwall coast. There are many beaches and attractions nearby. The Milky Way is a brilliant day out if you have children and we would recommend Docton Mill for a fantastic cream tea
