“Perfect retreat in lovely surroundings, excellent.”
Took a bit of finding, got within half a mile of the property but then struggled and had to be led in by the owner. But when we arrived, wow, it was perfect, my wife struggles to walk and climb stairs so having everything on one level was ideal. The property contained all we needed for a few days away and was very clean. We didn't do much cooking, but we had some excellent meals in local pubs. The countryside was beautiful, the small villages and hamlets gorgeous and all the locals very friendly. For anybody who likes visiting places of interest, like Stonehenge, this place would be ideal, there are many other attractions within a short car journey. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. My thanks again for a lovely break
“Perfect place for two!”
The cottage was superb, beautifully presented, excellent facilities, MOST amenable host - shower to die for! A beautiful quiet location close to canal and white horses offering a range of walking trails. Equally pleasant to visit Marlborough for some retail therapy. We stayed as a twosome, rather than a couple, and the cottage offered everything we could have hoped for - including a tour of our welcoming host's converted church! If you want somewhere easy to get to (40mins from Newbury) but wonderfully rural - this is it!
“CUTE, COZY COTTAGE”
We had a wonderful weeklong stay at this cottage. It is secluded, well equipped, roomy, and the wooded back garden was delightful. This is a great place to spend quiet relaxing time and conveniently located to many local areas of interest. We will be back.
“Quiet secluded sanctuary”
This is a lovely and spacious rental on the edge of a wood. It is a perfect setting for visiting the sacred sites of Avebury, Silbury Hill, and West Kennet Long Barrow (among other sites), and for walking the sacred and beautiful landscape of the Pewsey Vale. Do not miss the exquisite Mary Magdalene church and church yard in Woodborough. Shopping is easily accessible in Devizes, Pewsey, or Marlborough. Fenella is a warm and hospitable host, and really cares about your comfort. (I was coming from California and needed to be warm so appreciated the central heating.) I was also delighted by the welcoming gifts of wine and lemon cake, and fresh flowers; these are thoughtful touches. You have a private garden attached to the cottage (though as it was still winter I couldn't enjoy this as much as I would have liked to), and the rental itself is quite separate from the owners' house, an unusual converted church. There are great pubs nearby for lunch or dinner. I couldn't have been more content for the week I spent here before going to a retreat.
Had a fabulous 3 night stay at this gorgeous cottage. Great location in a really lovely area. Could not fault anything about this short break, the cottage both size and decor were fab. Will certainly want to go back again.
“Lovely and relaxing stay”
We had a great stay at All Saints Cottage. It was clean, well-equipped (we especially liked the multi-functional soundbar!) and very well located with numerous walks within a short car's ride away. Will definitely try to stay there again when we are next in Wiltshire!
“Beautiful cottage in a wondrous environment.”
All Saints Cottage exceeded our expectations. It is absolutely beautiful, clean, and quiet. Mrs. Fenella Weir's warm greeting made us feel at home. We were exhausted after flying 10 hours nonstop from Oregon to Heathrow Airport, and driving on the opposite side of the road! We slept very well on a comfortable king size bed. In the morning after a hot shower (and tea with milk and cake graciously provided by our host), we drove a short distance to Avebury. On the way back, we did our grocery shopping at Waitrose in Marlborough. I always buy organic which was easy to find. The following day we visited Glastonbury and Chalice Well. (You can park across the street at Draper for a small fee. My husband bought a pair of their fine leather and sheepskin boots.) On the third day we went to Stonehenge and Woodhenge. We did laundry in the washer on our final day and walked the land. The weather was wonderful and I took photos of the stars at night from the backyard of the cottage. We also ate and drank at The Golden Swan and The Seven Stars Inn. What great food and friendly people! We would love to come back some day.
“So good, I want to keep it a secret!”
All Saints Cottage really is a little bit of paradise, tucked away down a quiet lane in Wiltshire. If you love the countryside, and are looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful area then look no further. This cottage is the perfect hideaway for a couple, but unlike some other 1-bedroomed cottages, this one is also beautifully spacious, so you don't have to squash all of your things into a tight space. No tripping over your case in the middle of the night, the lobby/corridor area accommodates all of those bulky items, leaving your bedroom clutter-free. There really is everything you need in this superbly equipped cottage, including a torch for walking at dusk, ironing board/laundry equipment, a more than generous supply of books and DVDs, and starter packs of toiletries, tea, coffee and milk. We were also delighted to find a cake, fresh flowers and a bottle of wine waiting for us, a lovely welcoming touch! For me the cherry on the cake is the blissful peace when sitting in the garden. All you can hear are the sounds of nature punctuated by an occasional train passing. Whilst drinking tea in the garden we saw deer running in the woods nearby, and there are lots of birds in the area for those who enjoy twitching. Walkers will be thrilled to find an excellent, well marked network of paths around the local area. Of course there are lots of visitor attractions and national trails such as the Ridgeway, not too far away, but if you fancy an easy stroll around local villages, finishing with a beer at the local pub (The Seven Stars at Bottlesford) then this is also on offer. The owners have thoughtfully posted a map of the area in the entrance hall so you can plan your wanderings. I really can't fault this excellent property and would recommend it to anyone - but I hope there will still be a week available for me next time!
“Immaculate, peaceful stay”
Had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at All Saints Cottage. Fenella was very accommodating and most helpful during our initial contact and on our arrival. The cottage was exceptionally clean and very comfortable and the perfect way to relax into our fortnight away from home. Hope to return.
“Perfect cottage, fabulous location and a lovely welcome!”
For us, this was a perfect holiday. We spent a week at All Saints cottage and the weather, although predicted to be changeable, was just right as we love walking and visiting National Trust properties. There were walks straight from the door into woods, along the nearby Kennett and Avon canal or for the less adventurous about half a mile to the garden centre at Woodborough for breakfast or lunch! The National Trust properties were Mottisfont in Hampshire on our way up from Sussex, Stourhead, Avebury House and Stones and Laycock Village and Abbey all within an hours drive. The cottage is just delightful, clean, tidy and well laid out with all facilities in the kitchen apart from a dishwasher with the option in the bedroom of twin or Super Kingsize bed which is very comfortable. Outside there is designated private parking off the drive and a quiet secluded garden at the back with a Picnic bench and 2 deck chairs which looks out into woodland. The only possible issue for us was that the broadband connection was a little intermittant but that is not always a bad thing as we were there to relax and enjoy the countryside. There are all the shops and Supermarkets you might need in either Devizes or Marlborough with the added attraction in Devizes of the amazing Caen Locks (29 in all). We met with Fenella on arrival, also delightful, who showed us round, answered any questions we had and had left us a lovely cake and bottle of wine. She also offered the use of secure bike storage and a barbecue neither of which we used so cannot comment on them. Fenella and her family live in the converted church about 20 yards away and told us to let her know if we had any problems or if we needed any advice and you wouldn't actually know they were there as it was always quiet and peaceful. We only ate out a couple of times, lunch at the Woodborough garden centre which was excellent and an evening meal at The Millstream in Marden which was also excellent and caters for Gluten/Wheat allergies. There were a few places we didn't make it to so, hopefully, will be back again soon! Thanks Fenella
