“Fantastic”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2022

We highly recommend Quiraing to stay, a homely home, with everything you need in it. A lovely secluded back garden, great views from the sitting room and bedroom. Ideal location for many places to see, and walk. Worth visiting Gairloch museum, Poolewe Gardens and Plockton, along with Ullapool and Skye. We are most definately going back next year that's for sure.

“Amazing holiday!”

Reviewed 11 May 2022

We loved our stay! The house is a quaint bungalow, very rustic feeling and that's what we wanted and loved! The garden was full of birds and plants and the little ones loved starting everyday feeding the birds. We spent more time looking out at the views than anything else while in the house. We didn't take many toys but they didn't care, the house had plenty of space for them to run off energy in bad weather and lots around for better weather. The park is 2 minutes walk over the road the beach about 5. Within a 10 minute drive there's a stunning waterfall walk, an abundance of boat trips to see the local wildlife, a museum with loads of interactive bits for the kids and even a golf course. Plenty of places to eat overlooking the views, I can't stress how stunning this area is! The only downside is the nearest supermarket us 1.5 hours away, and local shops are a bit pricey as usual. As long as you can get your main shopping on the way in there is lovely takeaways to enjoy and a few local shops to treat yourselves with less than a 10 minute walk away. The house has a well stocked kitchen for any cooking you'd want to cook and an abundance of ways to keep you warm. Very cosy beds with thick blankets and curtains that keep out the light. We did have a couple of issues but Ross was easy to get hold, very helpful of and made sure it got sorted. Locals are absolutely lovely aswell. We will definitely be returning.

“Brilliant location”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2021

I would like to start of saying the area is amazing place to visit.Only thing i would say is the cottage is a bit dated and requires a good overhall.Be aware it is heated with storage heaters which is on a timer that i think the owner controls because they never came on on the first night so was quite damp and cold .On arrival there was no first night coal for fire however the fire had paper and kindiling sticks so wee had to look for logs and coal wee were lucky the local shop was open just made it before closing so either take logs or coal with you because first night would have been cold without it.other than that it is a beutiful cottage and outstanding location.I recommend the chinese takeaway and farm shop the local hotels do luvly grub and the hotel on the water front does a good selection of malt whiskey however mind ask price before buying. I would like to thank owner for nice bottle of croft on arrival .To summarise beutiful cottage (just a bit outdated inside) but brilliant holiday

“By some margin, the worst holiday house we have ever taken!”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2021

There were several dangerous aspects to this house. A heavy bedroom curtain and rail with long protruding screw fell onto my 89-year-old mother while she was in bed. A dining chair collapsed while I was sitting on it. Panes of glass are discarded in the garden alongside the collapsed, broken 'whirligig' dryer and remains of two chimneys. Kitchen equipment is inadequate to make a meal. There is no sieve, measuring jug or chopping board. The kitchen scales do not work. The frying pan and baking trays are rusted and disgusting. One pan is melted & bent. The grill pan contained the remains of a previous visitor’s cheese on toast (or similar). The weird shower cubicle in one bedroom had been left dripping and had soaked a considerable area of carpet, right up to the bed. When I tried to turn it off, the dial came off in my hand. The electric socket in the hall does not work. Furniture is old and stained. Many of the drawers are part filled with broken equipment or discarded pictures. Several internal doors, including the bathroom door, do not close properly. Both gates are hanging off their hinges. The view from the front window would be nice but one of the double-glazing units has failed so that the window is permanently clouded. Other windows were so filthy I had to clean them on arrival. We have contacted the owners and tried to obtain satisfaction but no response. You have been warned, don’t book it.

“Great location, great golf course and the dogs could stay.”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2021

The cottage shower over the bath did not work so we had to use the one in the bedroom which had a very hard to use dial and did not switch off immediately ran for about 30 minutes even though it had been switched off, the cubical was tiny. The kitchen was lacking utensils and the drawer that they were kept in was filthy, a pan with a lid that the handle had been melted which made it dangerous to try and take the lid off the pan, a frying pan that was black and a tray I used for chips the chips came out with black grease on them. The living room just had too much clutter, the dining chairs were filthy along the edges, the sofa had old drink spillages on it and was very dusty, cob-webs on most window frames, just in need of a good clean

“The cottage was perfect for a family and dog with amazing views out to sea and mountains”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2020

Travelled through many times but this is the first time I have stopped in Gairloch. The weather was brilliant all week which meant we had plenty of time on the golden beach. Would recommend Gairloch kayaking session with Cory and the glass bottom boat trip. Some lovely walks especially the coastal path to the harbour and if you get up early enough you may spot deer and otters. The Gairloch hotel has a good menu and the Chinese takeaway also very good. The cottage had everything we needed with stunning views. Would definitely go back and stay here again

Response from the owner Disappointed to read this unfair review. The previous review is a more accurate reflection of the property. The settee was bought new only several years ago and is a three seater. There are two other Harris tweed chairs also bought new for the property. Plus chairs around the table in the same room and more chairs if required in the bedrooms. The noise is from air in the system and does not last long - This will be looked at asap. The water heater heats up very quickly and there is an electric shower as an alternative.
