Description

This recently refurbished gardeners cottage is set in the lovely grounds of the owner's Birdsgrove estate. Standing detached, this traditional cottage offers fine, contemporary interior design and it's own 1/4 acre of landscaped, mature and peaceful garden with the River Dove bordering the grounds. Hope Cottage has an open plan living / dining room with bi-fold doors and large kitchen area leading to a sitting room with open fire. Fifth single bedroom. Separate cloaks.

First floor: large double bedroom with 6ft bed and en-suite shower room with double shower cubicle and toilet. Compact double bedroom, double aspect twin bedroom and finally a bunk bedroom. Main bathroom with over bath shower and toilet.

Getting around

Car is by far the quickest and easiest way to get around the area and see the sights, however there is a bus stop within walking distance and taxis available, should you need them.

Interaction with guest

We provide a self-check in system in order to take the pressure of specific arrival times, however we live close by so we are often around should you need us and we are certainly always available on the phone whatever the time, if you need anything at all that we can help you with. If you need any help at all planning your trip, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Please note that towels are available on request and are priced at £4 per set.

“Lovely addition to the larger house for big groups”

We used Hope Cottage as part of a weekend get away for a large number of families - we used Birdsgrove House as well. The cottage was great to give us extra space and a quieter area away from the main house. The grounds are fantastic - we didn't go anywhere else on the Saturday but enjoyed games and walks and the fantastic facilities in the main house. The owners were great with last-minute changes and were very helpful.

“Be warned”

We made a booking at Hope Cottage for 8 people this October but sadly the new Government restrictions meant we weren’t able to complete our stay. I contacted the owner who advised me to cancel the booking and she would refund the full amount we had paid. I did this and the funds have not been repaid. Holiday Lettings are also chasing the funds on our behalf but with no success so far. I would hate this to happen to anyone else so wanted to share our experience.

Response from the owner I have just seen this review and how sad that I missed it. A very inaccurate account of the actual facts of the matter. I do not receive any money until after a guests have checked in so there were delays in sorting out the administration as there were obviously issues with checking in the booking.

“Just wonderful !”

The cottage is so well located. Amazing views and beautiful countryside but really near to plenty of shops and the little town for extra bits and bobs. The cottage itself is really well presented, such lovely features and really clean. My favourite thing was the bi-folding doors leading out to the stunning gardens, river and orchard. Kerry the owner couldn' t have been more helpful and she even rang us to offer us an earlier check-in, which we really appreciated travelling with 2 small children. We spent the time exploring the peak district and spent a cheeky few hours at Alton Towers. We can't wait to come back when it's a bit colder, to make the most of the open fire.

“Lovely cottage with excellent views”

Hope Cottage is a lovely cottage boasting excellent views of Derbyshire and great access to Ashbourne and the Tissington Trail. The cottage itself was easy to find (thanks to excellent instructions from Kerry) and was perfect for our weekend catch up with friends. The cottage is very clean which was somewhat unnerving with 3 children running around (especially with cream carpets) but we managed to come away without leaving our mark! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with all windows offering picture perfect views of the countryside. Kerry (the owner) was brilliant, always a text or call away should we need anything. She contacted me the evening of arrival to ask if everything was okay and again before we left...it's the little details like that which matter and I would have no issue in recommending a stay here or booking it again myself.

How do damage deposits work?

If Kerry (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
