Description from owner
Description
Aisla Cottage has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and sleeps up to 6 people. This is a 2 bedroomed sea-front cottage in East Cowes with amazing sea and River Medina views. The property has Superfast BT Infinity Broadband. Ailsa Cottage is within easy walking distance of the Red Funnel Ferry and near to the chain ferry, which links East & West Cowes. Also within easy walking of a wide selection of restaurants, shops, pubs and other attractions. UKSA is not far away, for those learning to sail or undertake other maritime training courses.
The Isle of Wight is the perfect destination for a holiday, as the island is a complete world within itself! There is so much to do and so much variety, suitable for all ages and tastes. Chilling out and watching the boats go by is a favourite pastime of many, enjoying the simpler pleasures in life like spending a day on one of the many beaches – building sandcastles, flying kites, fishing, surfing or just sitting in your deck chair and enjoying an ice cream is a must.
With over 200 miles of cycle routes cyclists love the island's scenic routes and little idyllic lanes, or coastal routes; such as the Military Road – affording visitors sensational views of the coastline.
Walkers can enjoy over 500 miles of well-maintained footpaths and the island is a dream for photographers and artists, with stunning subjects to capture around every corner.
Artists and nature lovers can enjoy the multitude of flora and fauna and marvel at the red squirrel, with the Isle of Wight being one of the last havens of safety for this endangered species. Budding archaeologists have an endless source of pleasure here, with the island revealing dinosaur bones and ancient artefacts on a regular basis, due to cliff erosion – so many treasures to be found.
Of course, last but not least, it is a world stage for sailors, who come from all over the globe for Cowes Week, The Round the Island Yacht Race and many other sailing events too. Nearby Aisla Cottage is UKSA, so if you fancy teaching the kids to sail one summer or would like to do your Yachmaster Course then Aisla Cottage is be the perfect spot to stay. “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot." Queen Victoria
Osborne House, home to Prince Albert & Queen Victoria, now owned by English Heritage is less than 10 minutes from the cottage and is a must see for all visitors. "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot," such were the words of Queen Victoria after her first visit to Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
There is so much to see and do, but on a final note – you cannot leave without having had a meal at The Folly in Whippingham (less than a 10 minute drive from Aisla Cottage).. Legend has it that the name of the Folly originated from a French smuggling barge that ran aground in the 1700's selling illegal alcohol! Whether this is true or not, the Folly Inn has a unique, rustic appearance and remains one of the must-visit places for many thirsty yachtsmen who are prepared to venture up the River Medina. The food is fantastic, great quality and large portions, with fresh seafood regularly on the 'daily specials' menu. In the height of the season there is live music and dancing on the table is not unknown. Suitable for kids and dogs too and right on the waterfront.

Outstanding cottage on the waterside. Cosy and with character. Located right by the Red Funnel Ferry Terminal and also by the Cowes Floating Bridge, the cottage is easily accessible.

“Great Venue for an Isle of White holiday”
Aisla cottage is the perfect base for a relaxing holiday or an active holiday. The property is right on the waterfront with views of the river madina from the windows and the private communal garden area, befitting from private parking right outside. Although located between the Red Funnel terminal and the Chain Link Ferry, they do not cause any major noise. Aisla Cottage is well main maintained, in good decorative order with all the essentials for a self catering holiday. (Including a pint of milk in the fridge and some tea bags so you can have a cup of tea on arrival) East Cowes is not a big town but a selection of small Local shops including a large supermarket and a co-op, takeaways and restaurant/cafes are in easy walking distance. Even if you were visiting without a car this would a good base as there are good public transport links again within walking distance. I would be happy to return and stay there again.
