Description from owner

Description

When large parties want to be able to celebrate together in a luxurious peaceful setting but also want the option of some quiet time whenever they want it, Redyeates Cottage is the perfect solution. The property consists of two luxury cottages (The Dairy and the Barn) just a few steps away from each other. One of the cottages is ground floor level which is also perfect if there are older guests with any mobility issues. There is a luxurious split-level large lounge and dining area overlooking the grounds accommodating up to 16 people. There are two large lounges in total and 3 separate dining areas which is perfect when people want a little bit of quiet time on their own. For those that like a large bed, there are 4 super-king bedrooms (all en-suite), a king-size bedroom and a twin bedded room. Redyeates Cottage also has options to configure bedding differently if, for example, more single beds were required instead of super-king beds. Two of the super-king bedrooms can be changed to accommodate 3 singles if required and we have good quality settee beds as well. The solid oak refectory dining table seats up to 16 people or can be converted into an 8ft snooker/pool table for a small charge of £45. The Barn kitchen table seats 10 and the larger lounge has a log burning stove. The property looks over the grounds and the rolling Devon country-side beyond and there is a large patio area with access to the 3 acres of gardens for family BBQs and games. The 3 acre grounds include an all weather tennis court and there are many other things to do such as table tennis, trampoline (yes adults do that too!) and plenty for the children to do such as a quality swing-set and climbing frame as well as goalposts for those that want a quick game of football.

Redyeates Cottage is also in a fantastic location if you love the dramatic scenery of rolling Devon countryside, total peace and quiet (there are no near neighbours) and lots to do locally being within easy reach of Exeter (20 mins) as well as both of the north and south coastlines (40 mins). We are also just 12 miles from each of the National Parks at Exmoor and Dartmoor. Local pubs and good food are also close-by as well as many of the normal Devon tourist attractions. Our changeover day is a Friday. Outside of our peak season (which is typically when the children are off school) we can be more flexible and operate a minimum 3 nights on weekends (Fri-Mon) and 4 nights during the week (Mon-Fri). If you require something slightly different, please make contact and we will see if we can accommodate your needs. We generally don't accept stag / hen type weekends or young groups but please contact us.

“Outstanding group holiday getaway”

Reviewed 25 Mar 2019

Redyeates is the perfect place to have a weekend away with a large party. Myself and 15 others went to celebrate my 21st and loved every second of our stay. There are so many things to do as there is a lovely garden, football nets, a tennis court, table tennis, darts and even a pool table (which is optional but I definitely recommend it. One of the best parts of our trip was that we were (effectively) in the middle of nowhere and so we could make as much noise as we wanted and it was great to get some time away from our very busy lives. In the surrounding areas there are lots of lovely pubs and, although we didn't get round to it, Exeter is not every far away at all and easily accessed. Bedrooms were great and very comfy, the Kitchen was fab and the lounge was the perfect place to relax and to have a party of your own with a fantastic stereo system. Shame we didn't have sunny weather but it was still great regardless. The owners, Gary and Louise, were extremely useful and friendly and helped us out at every point of our experience. Before, they gave us some very good recommendations for what to do/what we needed to bring/any concerns and during the trip they were on hand to deal with any issues to do with anything (with even a little shop if we needed anything). All in all, a fantastic weekend with a fantastic group of friends of which we all will cherish and remember for a very longtime to come.

“Wonderful location, amazing service, perfect break”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2015

We stayed over a long weekend with a party of 15 staying in both the main house and the 'barn'. Arriving Friday afternoon we really couldn't of asked for a warmer welcome by the owners who showed us around both properties and how everything worked adding to a lovely welcome pack which again was above and beyond expectations. Once our full party arrived from around the country we drunk in the amazing scenery and several bottles until early the next morning using the tennis court and pool table throughout the evening with varying levels of success! We went out on the Saturday afternoon but returned for more garden based sports and food to be complimented by the scenery and house again. The Sunday afternoon in the garden was peaceful and relaxing with one of those 'chilled' afternoons you always say you are going to take at home but never do! We cleared up after ourselves on the Monday as most would and returned the keys to the owner when I have to admit I was a little sheepish as we grew a little louder over the later hours but they heard nothing and were nothing but relaxed and charming as they has been over the weekend whenever we had seen them, The biggest compliment I can pass is that all of our party wanted to book again to take families and friends and the whole experience was amazing, if Gary and Louise do read this I can only say thank you again from all of us!!
