Description from owner
Description
The Old Wine Cellar is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm and one of seven properties within Oakerthorpe Holiday Village.
The Old Wine Cellar was originally used as a wine cellar and meat storage as the temperature without heating stays at a constant +1 ˚c - + 2˚c. The interior boasts of all original stone work features which are truly amazing. All rooms are below ground level and all have outside windows apart from one. The property was built circa 1790 and is grade 2 listed with mandatory single glazing however the Basement is still very warm and cosy.
The Cellar consists of a bespoke kitchen with tiled granite worktops and includes 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine with a living /dining room, 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite, twin room, single bedroom and a family bathroom and has the benefit of Freeview TV and Wi-fi.
The Old Wine Cellar has a standard occupancy of 7 however we are able to sleep 10 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The price is £20 per bed/per night.
The dining table has seating for 8 with space for 2 extra folding chairs if needed.
It boasts of underfloor heating keeping room temperature at a constant level seemingly setting it apart from the outside world in its own perfect bubble, to be noted that the ceiling height varies throughout the property and in some parts the doors are below standard height.
The property has parking directly outside and is accessed via an external stone staircase.
Grounds include a large playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and a bespoke enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790.
Adjacent the property is a walled Orchard which has chickens, geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep, pigs and meerkats is where Farmer Vic invites guests to help at feeding time and collect eggs from the chickens throughout the year except during the Christmas period.
Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests with top class accommodation, striving at all times to deliver the very best along with giving a unique and memorable experience however we would like to make you aware that approximately 150 metres from the property is a main railway line which for many, especially our younger visitors, enriches the village experience from which it must be said there is minimal sound pollution.
