Description from owner

Description

A 3 bedroomed detached 19th Century farmhouse in the centre of the village the property has two main double bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms. The third bedroom has a single bed and there is an additional fold down bed if required.
There is a family bathroom with bath, shower and toilet and a further separate toilet/washbasin.
On the ground floor are two reception rooms, one with an open fire and to the rear of the premises is a large well equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, hob/cooker, and large American style fridge freezer. An additional dining area runs off from the kitchen and has a table that comfortably seats six. There is an open plan seating area overlooking the private walled gardens which lead out to a decking area overlooking a small stream. To the rear of the property is a private parking bay for one vehicle and unrestricted parking is available to the front.
The village is served by a co-op supermarket, cafe, golf club and three public houses including the famous Bluebell Hotel.
Belford is a small village half way between Alnwick and Berwick and historically was a stopping place on the Great North Road for stage coaches between London and Edinburgh. It is the ideal base for exploring and is central for all the historic sites. Close at hand are Bamburgh, Holy Island, Chillingham Castle or the historic market town of Berwick. Take the children to Alnwick Castle and show them where Harry Potter learnt to ride his broomstick. All are within a short drive.
Then after a busy day exploring why not relax with a book and a glass of wine in the private garden adjacent to the stream.

“Great cottage, but due to it being managed by a business, lacks adequate cleaning and personal touches”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2022

Good location for coast and castles. The cottage, however well equipped, with comfortable beds, it needs some TLC and a bit of thought towards guests needs in places. Mirrors are on the floors in bedrooms, cupboards have previous users bits/clothing in them, no bins in the bedrooms and dust/debris lining window sills and furniture surfaces dirty. Bedroom sinks not altogether clean and the fridge was clearly not cleared of previous users stuff and had not been wiped out. You should expect more for a fairly expensive let! Despite pointing these things out, we were told we would have to pay extra for the use of the dishwasher and use of the washing line, by buying our own tablets and pegs! Small improvements and a little thought would have made a a good property great. Such a pity! We are Superhosts on Airbnb and know what makes a super cottage. I hope this review creates the changes that can potentially upgrade this property to something special!

“Northumberland visit”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2022

There was a group of 4 of us who stopped at Bluebell Lodge and it was lovely, you could easily have 6 adults sharing as there are 2 doubles with ensuite and a twin room. It was ideally located in the centre of Belford with a co-op just across the road and a chip shop next door (can’t comment on the chip shop as it was closed whilst we were there due to it being out of season). There is a bus stop at the top of the road where you can hop on and off the buses for just £6.70 each all day, we saw a lot of the coast that way. It was a lovely touch that there was a bottle of rose left for our arrival and the lodge has all the amenities you could need, it is really cosy..the myna bird at the end of the garden is an added bonus and we had a lot of fun talking to it in the mornings. We would highly recommend this lodge to anyone wanting to explore Northumberland, we would definitely stay here again. I
