Description from owner

Description

Balgedie Lodge is beautiful cottage. Bright and cheery in the summer, warm and cosy in the winter and the views are simply spectacular.

There are 3 bedrooms - one's a double, the other a twin and the third is a single - so the Lodge can sleep 5 comfortably although an additional single bed or a cot is available on request. The cottage is also all on one level and so able to cater for those with mobility concerns and wheelchairs. Please contact the owner for specific requirements and to check all is possible.

All the bedding is wonderfully comfy, the linen is luxurious white cotton and the towels are large and fluffy! Think boutique hotel without the price tag - a good night sleep is guaranteed!

There's a pretty, enclosed garden with a sheltered patio, perfecting for sitting in and admiring the view by day or the stars by night. It is all on one level, making it easy for families with young children or the elderly or those with accessibility concerns.

The kitchen has all you'll need to cook up some wonderful meals while away. But if you don't feel like cooking a caterer can be arranged and there are lots of great restaurants, cafes and pubs near by - several within walking distance.

In the sitting room, you can snuggle up on the sofas, read a book or watch some tele. You can also have fun play the board games which are there for you to enjoy or have a singalong on the piano!

All the rooms are lovely but the sunroom is definitely a favourite! The views of the Loch are the best in the area. Many hours can be spent in there, all enjoy the surroundings!

The Lodge is dog friendly too and so if you'd like to bring your pet on holiday with you, we are sure they would love it here! There are so many walks from the front door, a large enclosed garden and even a dog friendly pub just 10 mins walk away. There is a small dog fee and a few dog rules that we ask all our dog owners to follow.

There's loads to do around an about - wonderful walks, a new cycle path around Loch Leven, take a trip on the Loch ferry to visit the castle Mary Queen of Scots was famously imprisoned in, discover incredible bird life at Vane Farm, tackle the Lomond Hills which are on the doorstep, and enjoy lots of culinary treats thanks to all the great farm shops, cafes and restaurants near by.

It's less than an hour to St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Stirling and Gleneagles and short drives to many wonderful day's out on the beautiful Fife beaches, adventure parks, bowling, a corn maze, deer farm, animal farm, Deep Sea World and so much more. There are so many great day trips the only problem is choosing which ones to do! But we are there to help our guests get the most out of their stay and experience all the area has to offer, so please just ask as we would be delighted to help you in any way we can.

It's also a great base for golf lovers - especially with the golf on at Carnousitie in July! The Lodge is only an hour away from the Open and there are many wonderful courses locally to play on too during your stay including the championship courses in Gleneagles and St Andrews and the courses in Kinross, and all the way through Fife.

Edinburgh Airport is only 40 mins drive away and Glasgow is about 1 and 1/2 hours away. Having a car is a must as the property is in the countryside and is not well served by public transport. The nearest local train station is Lochgelly (8miles) and Kirkcaldy station is only about 20 mins away and is on the main line north and south. There is also a park and ride service from Kinross.

Interaction with guest

Reviewed 13 Jun 2021

Very comfortable accommodation with beautiful views if loch leven and lomond hills. Very clean with everything we needed. It was a special trip, as we went to scatter my husband's ashes and the owner shona could not have been more helpful and thoughtful, in our correspondence and phone calls we also enjoyed beautiful meals prepared by Karen mayne, a local caterer recommended by shona. Wished we could have had longer to enjoy the stunning area and to enjoy all the places if interest.
