Description
***Proudly awarded 4 stars by VisitEngland*** 1 minute from a stunning beach, this gorgeous, beautifully renovated former Fishermans cottage built in 1850 will make the perfect base for your Kent seaside holiday.
Painstakingly renovated in 2014, with some stunning features uncovered including the original stone walls, this house offers you all the amenities needed for a carefree holiday whilst retaining the character of its age.
Relax on the comfortable chesterfield sofas in the lounge, and enjoy the cosiness of the wood burning stove after a long walk by the sea, or cook up a feast in the fully equipped kitchen with its large dining table for 6. All the mod cons are there to make your holiday exactly that - a holiday! You have a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer.
In the warmer months you can enjoy the sun room and courtyard garden, with outdoor table and chairs, and BBQ.
Beyond the kitchen is the bathroom, with a large rainfall shower bath.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a luxurious superking size bed with handmade British mattress, where you can enjoy a long lazy lie in watching the wall-mounted smart TV. The second bedroom has a double bed and there are two standard size single beds in the third bedroom, set up to create the perfect den for two children.
The house is presented beautifully - with attention to detail throughout.
A highchair, travel cot and stairgate are provided. One pet is welcome – please contact us to discuss your pet needs.
Please note that owing to the age of the cottage, the bathroom is on the ground floor, and the stairs are steep so this cottage isn’t suitable for those with mobility problems.

“Great cottage in ideal location!”
Me and my partner loved our stay here. The cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway, with the beach within a minutes walk. Also surrounding Hythe is a lovely town with great places to eat and drink.

Very cute Cottage, very close to the beach. We went on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, cycled along the local cycle paths and visited Dover Castle.

Response from the owner Ah Jacquie, it’s such a shame you’ve felt the need to do this. I have been very concerned about your mother and have asked after her repeatedly. Having identified that your Mother might be elderly, I specifically emailed you asking whether she was, and if she had any mobility issues when you requested to stay, I explained that if she was elderly and/or had mobility issues, the cottage would not be suitable for her because of the steep stairs/rope handrail and ground floor bathroom. You responded thanking me for letting you know, that it was absolutely fine because your Mum would not be unaccompanied at any stage and that you were happy to proceed. You asked to arrive early, which I happily agreed to. The cottage has remained structurally untouched (with the exception of a small extension at the rear) since it was built c.1900, the stairs have been there since then. They are steep but not dangerous. I’m sorry the lightbulb had failed during your stay, I leave spare bulbs but of course would never expect a guest to change the one in the stairway but would have quickly arranged for someone to come in to it had you of informed me, which you didn’t. You’re angry because I’ve not given you a refund. It is not my responsibility to assess whether your Mum is in fact, too elderly/immobile to stay at the cottage, it is in fact impossible for me to do so - hence why I am very clear about the Victorian features of this cottage, built in 1900. I have 58 reviews on AirBNB, with an average score of 4.8 out of 5 stars, I have 27 reviews on tripadvisor, 24 of them are 5 star, and as you’ve stated we’ve been awarded 4 stars by VisitEngland so I feel that this is just an attempt to discredit our lovely cottage. The other issues you speak of you haven’t once mentioned to me before now and I fear are just an attempt on your behalf to somehow strengthen your case. Your bad experience is down to your Mum having a fall which is awful and very upsetting- but not our fault when we’ve been proactively transparent about the nature of this lovely old cottage. I genuinely hope your Mum is ok Jacquie, as I’ve said several times, we are really upset that this has happened.

“Loved everything except steep stairs and lack of upstairs loo.”
Lovely location, have been to Hythe many times and would certainly return to this cottage. Sea front beautiful to walk along, Sandgate and Folkestone within 4 miles and the military canal a pleasant return journey. The town is a short walk away with many traditional shops and various restaurants.
