The Barn is a great space for a staycation, as a work-from-home alternative, or for families.

Please message about lower occupancy/single family discounts. Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations.

A newly refurbished (with love) barn in a beautiful semi-rural setting in the 'village of Throop'. The Barn was built in the late 1700's/ early 1800's as a malthouse, an outbuilding for the neighbouring Stour View, a late Georgian House built in 1790.

A perfect setting for family or friends (with your furry friends) getting together for birthdays or celebrations, a quiet setting with many wonderful walks from the doorstep. The Old Barn is spacious yet cosy and offers a sociable space for large groups to be together.

It has the added bonus of its proximity to Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Jurassic Coast, Purbecks, Sandbanks and the New Forest and is a short drive from the 5 miles of award winning, sandy Bournemouth beaches. There is also Castle Point, a very popular shopping centre that is 2 mins drive away and has many of the major shops plus restaurants and coffee shops. However if you require peace and quiet, the most you will hear in this cottage is the happy neigh of the horse in the field opposite. There are lovely walks from the front door and fishing can also be arranged. We welcome your dogs (we have 2) and your children, if there is anything we haven't provided then just shout. We've based this cottage on our many happy stays elsewhere and hope that we've re-created that for you. The Old Barn consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 doubles with en-suites and 2 singles with a master bathroom.

Downstairs there is a large, sociable kitchen with range cooker, microwave, island to gather around as well as a comfy sofa and refectory table. There is a downstairs toilet. The large lounge has ample seating, a woodburner, T.V, bluetooth speaker, X-Box and DVD player as well as access to Netflix. There's also the 'Boot Room to hang your wet coats and to dry boots where you'll find the tumble dryer. Please don't hesitate to enquire with any request that might make you stay easier.

Parking is available immediately in front of the house and there is also a space to the rear.

There is a popular pub a 10 min walk away.

Not suitable for stag parties. Please contact me for lower occupancy discounts or discounts for longer stays (7 days or more.)

Please note that the Barn has NO garden.

“Amazing stay!”

We had the best time staying at the Old Barn for my little boys birthday. Claire was very accommodating and made sure we had the best stay. There were a lot of us staying but it still felt very spacious and there was plenty of room. Claire added extra little touches that made the stay feel personal, Claire always responded to my messages and was always contactable. We loved it so much even my little boy got upset when we were leaving to come home, we will definitely be staying here again!! ❤️ Thank you for an amazing stay xxx

“Thoroughly enjoyable stay!”

We stayed at the Old Barn for a girls weekend. It was a great stay, the barn is a great size for a up to 8 people, it’s very welcoming, well equipped and has a lovely homely feel. Claire was great, she was friendly and responded promptly to queries, nothing was too much trouble. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!

If Claire (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
