Description
Yaffle Cottage is a spacious and characterful country cottage in a truly idyllic woodland setting. It is in the middle of the South Downs National Park and was designed specifically as a holiday home; every detail has your comfort and enjoyment in mind. The cottage sleeps 8 - in 8 separate beds if required.
The Lounge is cosy and welcoming with luxurious deep sofas and an oak-beamed ceiling. There is a wood burner in the inglenook fireplace.
The Kitchen has solid beech worktops, integral dishwasher, fridge freezer and underfloor heating. All gadgets are provided and the equipment is comprehensive and top quality.
Four double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes - 2 of the bedrooms (with new King-sized Hypnos beds) are on the ground floor (so no stairs) and have en-suite bathrooms with shower over bath and heated floor tiles . The other two (King-sized Dunlopillo Royal Sovereign) share a family bathroom, and there is also a separate toilet. These last two both have big French doors which open onto an Indian sandstone terrace. One also has an additional sofa bed. These rooms can also be set up with twin single beds.
There is also a utility room with a washing-machine and separate dryer.
Finally there is a second lounge with a 55” HD smart TV, reclining leather sofa and another sofa bed. This is ideal if parents and children want separate space.
The garden is secluded, totally private and completely fenced in. The cottage looks out over private woodland with secret paths and is within an area designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', ideal for walking or riding (it really is Dog Heaven).
The market towns, Midhurst and Petworth, are both 10 minutes drive and Chichester is 20. Cowdray Park Polo is 5 minutes away and Goodwood Racecourse and Motor Racetrack 15. There are numerous pubs, golf courses, fishing streams etc nearby.
The cottage has everything you might need including Wi-Fi, DVD, travel cot, child's high chair, golf clubs (left and right-handed) etc etc.
I am new to this web-site although I rented Yaffle Cottage for around 10 years as a holiday let. Then, in 2010 someone came along who liked it so much they stayed for 6 years! I am now back in the holiday let business and am looking forward to welcoming back some of my original guests. I quote from the 'Visitors Book' (remember them!?):-

“Wow wow wow”
This cottage is in a beautiful setting that is well equipped with a huge fridge, 2 ovens , coffee maker, dish washer and microwave and freezer as well as all the other equipment you may need such as bottle openers, tin openers. Alex the owner lives in a nearby cottage and is on hand to help with anything you need but never intrudes! The location is wonderful, large enclosed garden with gate to a secret walk which was great to adventure around and we saw fallow deer at the black gate! At the end of the drive on the opposite side of the road is a forest with wonderful paths to explore. It was not busy and only saw a few people in the distance. Perfect location to get away from it all. Wonderful cottage, plenty of space (the bedrooms are huge)and spotlessly clean with added extras that were a lovely surprises including well stocked games cupboard and book shelf for all three generations to enjoy. Alex also left us some goodies and milk on the table which was s lovely touch. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and we would love to visit again! Our children 5years old and 3year old had a wonderful time as did the adults. Book this for a wonderful secluded easy to social distance holiday!

“Great find”
We needed somewhere spacious and big enough for our family with a lager garden. All of the bedrooms are large and the beds are really comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. It felt like a home rather than a rental. Before we arrived Alex was very helpful and when we arrived there was some lovely goodies to start are holiday Which was much appreciated. The house was very clean and towels lovely and soft. The grandchildren and our puppy loved the house and garden and it was safe they couldn’t get out. Alex was also so helpful we couldn’t take our dog out one of the days and he popped in to check him out. Which was so kind of him. Location for us was perfect. Only 35 minutes from west wittering and fantastic walks right on your doorstep. I would recommend Yaffle Cottage and hopefully we will be going back next year.

“Weekend with kids”
We had a great time at the cottage, it is specious with a large garden and all the needed facilities. I would recommend either for a relaxing holiday or for get togethers with family and friends. Alex was a great host and was easily contactable if needed.

“Wonderful location”
This was the perfect cottage for our family Christmas . The peaceful woodland setting meant those with busy London jobs could sleep well, and the family space ( large sitting room with log fire and three sofas , plus large kitchen ) gave us plenty of options to be together or find a quiet spot to read . The TV room with reclining chairs was an added bonus . Glorious walks ( and runs ) from the door , great pubs nearby and the wonderful Cowdray Farm Shop just ten minutes away . Alex responded to my calls for help or extra supplies within minutes , even on Christmas morning when I was baffled by the Rangemaster cooker . Overall , an excellent choice for a family or group get- together .
