“Delightful Spacious Comfortable Cottage”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2023

Quiet location with some lovely walks nearby. The cottage was comfortable with excellent facilities. We were delighted on arrival to see that The Host had kindly decorated the cottage for our Christmas stay, including a fully decorated Christmas Tree, and provided a complementary box of biscuits and some chocolates. The kitchen very well equipped, with a really outstanding selection of store cupboard items. The bedrooms and the lounge were really spacious. Communication with host was good, we felt well looked after. We had a really warm, comfortable and relaxing stay. The nearby New Inn did lovely food and was warm and a welcoming atmosphere. GA

Response from the owner We were really sorry to read of our guests' poor experience at the cottage. The problem was our fault due due a mix up with the housekeeper as to the date she needed to have the cottage prepared for. We were understandably shocked when the guest phoned us to tell us about the state of the cottage. We immediately contacted the housekeeper to ask her if she would remedy this. She was at the cottage within 90 minutes and had it cleaned to a very high standard within 3 hours (the usual cleanliness of the cottage can be determined from previous reviews). We informed the guests that she was on her way and suggested that in the meantime they may wish to go for a meal rather than waiting, and that we would pay for this. We also offered and gave a full refund of the rental charge (we don’t receive the booking fee and so could not refund this). The guests were highly inconvenienced for a period of four hours and in compensation received a virtually free stay. Unfortunately they were determined to make the worst of the situation and left early. This is our worst review in over 150 bookings and obviously have taken steps to ensure it does not happen again.
