Charming coastguard cottage situated at Fort Victoria Country Park near Yarmouth and Freshwater on the picturesque West coast of the Isle of Wight, enjoying stunning sea views across the Solent. The recently refurbished seaside cottage offers an excellent base for a self-catering holiday with its easy access to the coastal path at the rear of the property and the local beaches at the front of the property.
The cottage and its location have to be experienced to be believed. Set in a quiet and peaceful location at Fort Victoria. Wake up to magnificent views across the Solent, and in the evening admire the beautiful sunsets over Hurst Point. The country park setting around the cottage offers a myriad of short walks through woodland paths.
Take a walk along the sea front to the historical town Yarmouth, or stop at the harbour and catch the water taxi. There are plenty of great pubs in Yarmouth (and elsewhere nearby). For the more adventurous, continue the walk at the front of the property, along the coastal path to Totland Bay, the famous Alum bay and the Needles, and along to Tennyson Down.
The Isle of Wight has something for everyone all year round. walking, cycling, watersports, horse riding, and lots of entertainment for children, whatever the weather. The West Wight has some excellent beaches and stunning views. Excellent restaurants can be found to suit all tastes.
Built in the 1850's, the coastguard cottages were originally designed to house officers stationed at Fort Victoria. The external walls are 15" thick, and were designed to withstand the vibrations from the cannons located at the fort. The maritime museum at Fort Victoria and the Needles battery at Alum Bay have lots of information.

“You don't get what's written on the tin by a long shot.”

“Beautiful”
If you are visiting the Isle of Wight you couldn’t do much better than stop here. Just outside of the lovely village of Yarmouth with its quaint streets of shops and some great places to eat nearby. Victoria Fort cottage is well enough equipped for your stay. It has a beautiful view over the Solent to the front and a nature reserve behind. Perfect for access to the coastal path for dog walking.

“Great location”
We had a lovely two week stay , waking up to the sea view every morning. Good walks from the door, especially liked walking into Yarmouth . Cottage was very comfortable, would stay again
