Description

Luxury cottage in the charming North Pennine AONB village of St Johns chapel. The cottage is equipped to a high standard and is extremely cosy and comfortable. We have a large wood burning stove, which is perfect for relaxing by after an exhilarating walk in Weardale. We are well situated for the Pennine way, Hadrian’s Wall and High Force the highest waterfall in England. The cottage is also on the Weardale way and the coast to coast cycle route. For lovers of wildlife, there is the largest black grouse lek in Europe and at Killhope the best preserved lead mine in England, red squirrels can be seen. The surrounding moors have the largest population of breeding waders in England as well as many rare plants and flowers, such as the spring gentian. St Johns Chapel is well served with two pubs, two tea shops and a Post office and general store.
