Description

In the pretty hamlet of Easter Balgedie, at the foothills of The Lomond Hills National Park and overlooking Loch Leven, near Kinross, stands Balgedie House and Lodge.

Originally built in the 1860's, both properties have been extensively refurbished to a very high standard, mixing historic character and charm with luxurious modern living, offering large groups a very special place to stay in central Scotland.

As the Lodge was traditional the working gate house, it is at the bottom of the drive, watching over the wrought iron and stone entrance gates! The House is at the end of the drive.

The number of guests that the House and Lodge can comfortably sleep is 17, with 12 in the House and 5 in the Lodge. However extra guests can be accommodated on request, for an additional charge per head. This must be arranged at the time of booking with the owner.

Given the size and the layout the property works very well for large multi generational gatherings, holidays where there are several families going together and trips with extended family - holidays where everyone wants to be together but everyone needs a bit of their own space too!

It works really well for celebrating special occasions too, be they birthdays or anniversaries, an old friends reunion, or simply a family from overseas looking for a base from which to explore Scotland and all it has to offer.

Well behaved pets are always welcome too although there is an extra charge for this of 25GBP per pet and the owner must be notified at the time of booking.

To help you enjoy your stay and make the most of your time at Balgedie, we offer a range of services depending on requirements and budgets, from a meal waiting for you to pop in the oven, unpacking a food delivery before you get there, to providing a housekeeper, babysitter or dog watcher. All you need to do is ask and we will do our best to make it happen.

If you like outdoor pursuits you are spoilt for choice, from famous golf courses to exceptional walks, bike rides and wonderful fishing. Being close to the border of Fife, there are beaches and fishing villages to explore along the coast and many castles, palaces and historic sites near by too.

Outlander fans are spoilt for choice as almost 90% of the film locations are within an hour's drive! And those who have a passion for Mary Queen of Scots will find plenty to see and do locally too!

Also, many of Scotland's cities are close by too - Perth, Edinburgh, Stirling, St Andrews, Dundee and Glasgow - and so very accessible for day trips. Let us know what you enjoy doing and what you'd like to see and we are more than happy to help you plan your stay.

Saying all that, we totally understand if you simply want to relax, enjoy the gardens and stunning views, and not go off anywhere at all!

Getting around

Edinburgh Airport is only 40 mins drive away and Glasgow is about 1 and 1/2 hours away. Having a car is a must as the property is in the countryside adn is not well served by public transport. It is however very near Kinross and the M90 so access to many of parts of Scotland is very easy. The nearest train station is Lochgelly (8miles) and Kirkcaldy station is only about 20 mins away. There is also a park and ride service from Kinross.

You will be met on arrival by our housekeeper. She will show you around, make sure you know where everything is, how things work, and are comfortable. She will also answer any questions you may have about the House, the area and any aspect of your stay and is on hand to help during your stay too, if needed.

How do damage deposits work?
