“Total escapism” Only 20mins from the motorway but a hundred years from the hustle and bustle of very day life

“Great stay at ash Pot Barn” I stayed at ash Pot Barn with 6 other ladies. We had a great time. We couldnt fault our stay in anyway. We would definatley return, especially in Summer as it has a great BBQ area overlooking the Fells, But was cosy in the winter when we went. We walked to the Fat Lamb pub which took about 1 hour 10 mins. Secluded location but perfect for relaxing and staying in, great kitchen/living area. Bedrooms spacious and everywhere very clean.

“Plenty to see and to do but a quiet place to stay” The views are spectacular. The accomodation is comfortable and the landlady is very friendly. It's a nice place for children. We loved to play with the dogs.

“A fantastic cottage in a great location” The cottage is warm, spacious and well-presented. It has everything you could possibly need for a great holiday - stunning views, lots of wildlife, a well-equipped kitchen, a comfy bed and one of the best collections of Dvds and books we have come across. What's more, the location is second to none - on one hand you have the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, on the other there is the stunning Lake District. We also found a number of lovely local walks in and around Kirkby Stephen. In short, a walker's paradise! We will be back soon.

“very very wet outside snug and warm inside” had a lovely family weekend with plenty of space and room to spread out especially in light of the abundance of sofas and arm chairs. most amazing though were the views... kept the curtains open so that it was the first thing we saw!

“Cosy cottage in lovely location” A comfortable cottage with lovely views; great for visiting the Howgill Fells and Sedbergh. Lovely views. Friendly owners and sheepdogs!

“family holiday” The cottage was a really nice one, there was 6 adults and my then 6month old grandaughter. We had plenty of room so nobody was in one anothers way. There was plenty of information of what was around and about to do, which was helpful for us when we had done all we had planned. I phoned the owners the day before and they were really helpfull they answered all i asked. The only let down we had was the lack of cleaning my eldest daughter and myself had to clean from top to bottom as there was dog hairs everywhere and when i washed the floors i had to change the water 3 times. The drive up to the cottage is a long way from the road but we didnt mind that. Dont run out of anything as the nearest shops are a fair distance. What we all liked was the open views we had, the viaduct was in sight from the sunlounge,the people was all so frindly. Would we go again... yes we would.

“A beautiful place, a perfect break” The cottage is in a gorgeous location within easy reach of many of the Dales. It had everything we needed whilst retaining its Dales charm and character. The view in the garden was stunning and heading back home after a busy day out, we always looked forward to our cosy peacefhome from home! “A Home from Home” Very warm welcome and very helpful throughout our weeks stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Very peaceful location. Absolutely lovely. My kids loved it.

“Lovely cottage ideally placed for walking in the Dales.” Cottage well equipped,spotlessly clean and cosy. Home made marmalade and fresh eggs were a treat. Hawes only 10 minutes away. Lots of walks to suit everyone. Railway line opposite was a novelty. Owners very easy to get on with and friendly - the file in the cottage which tells you everything you need to know is worth its weight in gold! We will definately return.

“Very comfortable, goos location” Had a great week, we love the area and discovered some new walks and places to visit, The accomodation was very homely and the owners who lived next door, gave us a lot of information about the area. Would reccomend this cottage to anyone.

“Perfect” The best cottage I have stayed in. The attention to detail was amazing with underfloor heating in the bathroom, lovely comfy beds, a pretty garden and lots lots more. All this together with the sunshine and the beautiful dales what more can you ask for. I will definitely be going back.

“Recreation, pure nature and millions of sheeps.” A nice and cosy cottage. Welcome-eggs. The cottage is small but enough for 2 adults. It is not easy to find if you are not from Great Britain. We missed the small road two times. But when we reached the "goal" it was, for us, typical English, nice and kind. We had a wonderful week with good weather and not so good weather. And I had never seen so much sheeps in my live.

“Tranquil pleasant cottage in picturesque surroundings.” Comfortable accommodation in quiet backwater.Plenty of walks in the fells and around the nearby reservoirs,and plenty of attractions in the district.Even the weather[including rain and snow] didn't detract from the pleasant holiday.

“Stunningly secluded, brilliant cottage” Where do I start? This was my second visit in six months and it felt like "coming home". Mrs. Scott (the owner) and her daughter keep their well-appointed cottage in excellent condition there's even a small collection of dvd's and board games should the weather turn nasty; I was there when the a1 was flooded for three days. Their welcome was as warm and friendly as before (the first time I was there I was even able to borrow a hairdryer as I'd forgotten mine!). The cottage is exactly as it's described, secluded. I went there to write in peace and found precisely that. The landlord and landlady at the local pub are great and the food is excellent - try the cheese platter - although it's a tad more than a five minute walk from Shepherd's Cottage. If you're into walking then this is the place to be; the sorrounding countryside is magnificent. What didn't I like? Having to leave.

“Excellent area and cottage” Loved the location. Ideal for walks and close to towns and places to eat. Dog loved it too as he never got walked as much as when we were here. Hope to go back here again
