Description from owner

Description

This pretty, old world cottage dates back to 1790 and has the original beams, fireplaces and other features you would expect to see from this period and is packed with charm. It has been in the hands of the present owners for 30 years and has been a holiday cottage for the past 25 years with visitors coming from all parts of the world. It is personally supervised by them. A welcome basket is provided and guests are greeted personally and shown round. The owner works at Chatsworth House and can advise on visits to the House as well as other local attractions and events.

The cottage, although old, has all the modern conveniences and is very well equipped: Unlimited Superfast Fibre Wi-Fi, Smart HD TV with Netflix, Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, Microwave, Free View/Sky HD Television, Music centre, Telephone (honesty box), Coffee Maker.

It has one large twin bedroom with old cast iron fireplace and fitted wardrobes. The other has a double bed with fitted wardrobe with stunning views out towards Haddon Hall and the Wye Valley. A bathroom with bath and shower over - plus toiletries included. The large lounge is very cosy with central heating and inglenook fireplace. There is a well equipped kitchen with eating bar and also a dining room with stone fireplace which can be used as a second lounge with views over the fields to Haddon Hall. High chair provided. Parking is outside the cottage. There is a library of books for avid readers. Good quality towels and bedding are also included.

The beautiful landscaped level gardens (no steps) have garden furniture both in the front garden and in the back garden. They are very good sized for a cottage and the back garden has a lawn. The gardens are enclosed.

The neighbours are most helpful to visitors and the village is most welcoming with a pretty church and a pub - The Flying Childers - a really old world award-winning pub just 50 yards away and can be seen from the cottage. There are good restaurants and pubs in the nearby villages of Birchover, Rowsley, Youlgrave and Bakewell.
