Description

The Woodcroft is a well appointed modern chalet on one floor with an open plan kitchen, diner and sitting area. Through the french windows is a decking area with amazing views over the surrounding countryside. There is plenty of parking and lots of open space to walk around in. A couple of minutes walk from the property is the canal and here you can walk, cycle,or boat to either Taunton or Bridgwater. There are some lovely villages with great pubs and a farm nearby where you can buy some local Somerset Cider. Lyme Regis, Wookey Hole, Clarks Shopping Village, Glastonbury, Minehead and The Quantocks are all within easy reach by car. The local wildlife on the Levels including Herons and Cranes is legendary.

The property is set within 3 acres and the owners property is also within the garden, but the two properties are quite separate. The owners encourage you to explore the grounds which includes collecting any fruit you may find on many of the apple, plum and damson trees.

Getting around

We do have a bus stop about 50 yards on the other side of the road, but most of our guests bring a car. The Taunton to Bridgwater canal is a 2 minute walk and includes a cycle path, so great if you want to bring your bikes. The train station is in Taunton which is about 6 miles away. We can provide transport to and from if you wish.

Interaction with guest

We have a key safe on the wall outside the holiday chalet which means that you are free to arrive whenever you like, after the 4.00 p.m. check-in. We are close by and will assist if there is anything you need, but we do respect your privacy and will leave you to your own devices. On the other hand if you would like to come and meet us, then you are more than welcome.

“Short stay for a wedding”

“Beautiful accommodation in peaceful setting with amazing views.”

We enjoyed a very chilled week in this gorgeous setting. Great cycling to hand and peaceful walks taking in the local wildlife. The host was very attentive and ensured the property was immaculately clean and safe. Woodcroft is modern, well equipped and of a very high standard. We intend to return very soon to this beautiful place.

“Perfect little getaway”

A fantastic chalet with wonderful views. The location was central to all the attractions that we wanted to visit - a car is essential. A nice canal walk only 2 minutes away from the location. The chalet was very clean and had everything we needed including hot drink ingredients so we could have a cuppa when we arrived. Would recommend The Woodcroft very highly.

“Great Base for Exploring Somerset”

This is a great base to explore the area surrounding Taunton. The chalet was well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. It is set in the garden of the owner Katie who is on hand to answer queries but also respects your privacy. A generous welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits were provided which were very welcome after a long drive.The chalet was immaculately clean, with fresh towels and bed linen provided. Due to the location own transport is highly recommended.

“Nice Break Away”

The Holiday Chalet was perfect for our needs - a quiet Easter Break away with our children and the dog! We did many walks along the canal which the dog loved off lead and the garden which was large enough for him to have a wander round too. The chalet was a home from home very well equipped and clean. I would certainly consider staying here again (if we were welcome to ☺). We drove to Taunton Town Centre (5-10mins away) a few times and visited Berrow Beach (20-25mins away) which was a lovely long sandy beach. A nice, quiet and relaxed stay!!
