Description
Originally the residence of a noble Tuscan family, the villas interiors are spacious and beautifully furnished with antiques and family heirlooms. On the ground floor there are two large living rooms with fireplaces, comfortable settees and armchairs, a sumptuous dining room with fireplace and French windows opening onto the courtyard, a fully equipped eat in kitchen where breakfast is served, a study with computer/internet connection and a washroom with basin and w.c. On the same floor is also a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. On the first floor of the villa are four more beautiful bedrooms and four bathrooms. Across the courtyard is the original 12th century tower which now forms a suite, with a lounge on the ground floor, a double bedroom and shower room on the first floor and a roof terrace. Close to the villa is its private chapel and adjacent 'Limonaia' a casual sitting room which has beautiful arched windows and a roof terrace with a magnificent panorama. The Limonaia opens onto a large patio with table and chairs for dining al fresco. Set in a private position on its own terrace below the villa, is its private swimming pool (10m x 5m) which is surrounded by lawns and shaded on one side by a covered loggia. Although situated in the heart of the unspoilt Chianti countryside Villa Il Castello is only 4km from the town of Castelfiorentino. Florence,Siena and San Gimignano are easily accessible. The resident caretakers live in a private apartment in a wing of the villa, they maintain and service the property, prepare breakfast, and are happy to arrange lunches, dinners, and other services on request. Dishwasher, major cooking appliances and washing machine may only be used/operated by villa staff. 300kw per week electricity included. Extra consumption is payable locally. Maximum 4 children per group accepted.
