“Great location!!!” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palmer House. The location was fantastic...a block from ocean, close to the grocery store, and we could easily walk to Beacon Hill Park and downtown. The house itself was very cozy and nicely furnished. It was also great to have off-street parking. Trish & Rick were lovely hosts and very accomodating. I have highly recommended this house to friends and family visiting Victoria and would most certainly stay again.

“Wow your place is such a restful spot” Jeannie, we can't thank you enough for hosting my wife and I recently at Beachwood Cottage. Your place was everything that we could have hoped for and more. It was the perfect nest for us to relax in the sun, breath in the ocean-fresh air, observe the birds and wild life and pick fresh tasty vegetables from your garden for our salad. When we arrived it was clean and as described on the web-site. What a welcoming experience. Thanks again and we both would't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great value in a natural setting. Dick and Elaine Kirby

“What a great find!” My husband and I stayed here with our toddler and some extended family in an adjacent suite. Everybody had such an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Both suites were well-equipped and clean. The location was perfect - close to ocean, downtown and Cook Street Village. The host, Sarah, went above and beyond to help make our stay memorable. She was available to answer questions we had about touring around, was quick to replenish supplies when needed, and even allowed my daughter (who loves animals) play with her gentle dog who stays in the backyard. Overall, I couldn't recommend this more highly. You'll be happy with your choice to stay here.

“This property was fantastic!” My family of five adults recently (July 2012) stayed at this condo just steps from almost everything in downtown Victoria. The apartment is well appointed, and furnished with more daily necessities than many vacation rentals. It was also exceptionally clean. These observations and several conversations with the owners showed that they are clearly interested in the comfort and well-being of their guests. Having to carry or buy dish soap, bathroom tissue, and the like for a stay of a week or less , something we faced in other properties on our trip, is a real turn-off. Thanks again for everything. Our family enthusiastically recommends Heart of Victoria for visitors to that unique city.

“Great things do come in small packages” Thanks to Angelika and Rob for their hospitality. Latoria guest suite is ideally situated in a location easily accessible to amenities but far enough removed from the hustle and bustle of greater Victoria. You can find yourself in either suburbia, downtown Victoria, or hiking the southern coast of the island all within a 30 minute drive. Olympic View G.C. is right across the road and it was tough for me not to wonder over daily for a round or two. The home comforts provided were valuable during our two week stay while a family member attended Royal Roads University. The building is quiet which is great for studying or rest and relaxation as was our case. Being located in the same building as Red Barn Market was excellent so we were able to quickly pick food items up. Would definitely return in the future.

“The Perfect Getaway!” I cannot say enough about Ron and Judy O’Brien and their beautiful vacation suite. We just returned from spending 10 days in beautiful Victoria. The suite was so comfortable and had everything we could imagine. Ron and Judy met us when we arrived and familiarized us with our accommodations. They were more than happy to give us some tips on what to see and where to visit, they even suggested some local musical talent that we enjoyed very much. Thanks to both Ron and Judy, our visit was effortless. This was our first experience renting privately. We own several time shares and vacation exclusively through them, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Our stay was exceptional. Thank you Ron and Judy. We hope to see you again sometime. “Nothing was too much trouble” A lovely apartment in a quiet spot but convenient for local shops, the airport and ferry, and 20 minutes drive from downtown Victoria. It was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Kirk and Gloria were lovely hosts and we felt confident that if there was anything we needed then nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed for 4 nights while visiting family and seeing a few sights. It was nice to have a place where we could just come and go (own entrance) without any bother. Gloria kindly drove me to the airport to pick up my hire car - she just offered. Good for a family of 4. Bedrooms were a good size and the lounge had plenty of space. I'd happily stay there again.

About Victoria

The lovely, clean, and well-tended city of Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, just off the coast of British Columbia. Unlike most cities on the west coast of North America, Victoria boasts a truly exceptional collection of British colonial architecture, as well as many British inspired traditions. When you arrive in Victoria, get a sense of the city's history by visiting its famous architectural landmarks, such as the Point Ellis House and Gardens and the Parliament Building. You may even consider hiring a horse-drawn carriage to explore the scenery downtown. For a distinctly Victorian experience, gather the family for a traditional English high tea in a place like Gatsby Mansion or the White Heather Tea Room.

In addition to its traditions, Victoria has developed a rather modern flair, partially gleaned from its cosmopolitan cousin, Vancouver. Today, you can find Asian seafood restaurants, trendy cafes, and French-inspired bistros along the streets of Victoria. In the evenings, head out for a live theater performance in one of Victoria's many venues, or catch a classic film in the city's independent cinemas.

A coastal city, Victoria is an excellent place to visit in the summer months, when the days are long and sunny. The walkways around the harbor are one of the city's greatest attractions, offering shops, restaurants, and beautiful views of the water. One of the nicest ways to enjoy Victoria's natural beauty is by hopping on the ferry to tour the harbor. For those who love the wilderness, the pristine coastline is a perfect setting for an eco-adventure, such as canoeing, fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, or boating. Wildlife observation, particularly whale watching, is another major attraction of the region. The waters just off the coast are home to a large pod of killer whales, drawing hundreds of visitors to Victoria year-round.

Here are some of the best things to do in Victoria:

  • Butchart Gardens: Just a bit north of Victoria, these perfectly manicured gardens are a huge attraction. During the summer months, there are fireworks at the gardens every weekend.
  • Craigdarroch Castle: Built by a former coal magnate, this massive residence is a Victoria landmark and open to the public.
  • Royal British Columbia Museum: This small but interesting museum chronicles the history of British Columbia.
  • Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: Located in a restored historic home, this small museum features work by the famous British Columbia artist, Emily Carr.
  • Mount Douglas Park: Hike through lush landscapes of ferns and flowers at this lovely Vancouver Island state park.
  • Gulf Islands: Located just off the mainland, this gorgeous chain of small Pacific isles is a picturesque destination for sailing, fishing, and hiking.

If you are planning to visit Victoria, look for a lovely condo or luxury apartment near the city center or the harbor. Snagging a spacious villa by the coast can make your trip to British Columbia all the more relaxing. Ideal for a family, a vacation rental offers the space and privacy you can rarely find in a hotel.

Lovely Private Waterfront, Beachwood Cottage
Best cup of coffee on the planet

We absolutely loved Jeannie's paradise. She makes everything very comfortable with special her special, personal touch. The little cottage is a nature lover's paradise. Honey bees can be viewed through glass in the yard. Herons swim in the lagoon below. Ships slowly sail by in the Pacific all day, and all night sounding their horns. Cable tv and wifi make it like a downtown hotel, but, trust me, don't stay downtown, stay here! Each morning we sat outside on the many outdoor chairs, in our sweaters, drinking coffee and reading books. It was paradise. The landlord is so nice and helpful. We hope to be back sooner, rather than later.see more

We stayed for a week and felt right at home. The suite was very comfortable, spacious, quiet and well appointed. Ron and Judy have thought of everything and are very good hosts. Great Condo

Beautiful condo, clean, well furnished and lots of extras like hair dryer, shampoo, hand soap and hand cream, Laundry soap and dishwasher soap. Lots of towels and linens. It was great having the washer and dryer in the condo especially when we stayed for three weeks. Great location, close to downtown Victoria, only 35 minutes from airport and only 3 minute drive to our sons house to play with our 2 year old grandson, this being the main purpose of our visit.see more

welcoming

Wallacehouse is everything it said it would be and more. Kirk and Gloria couldn't have been more helpful, supportive, understanding and accommodating during my stay. The suite is within an easy walk to all you need in way of shops and bus stops. Kirk and Gloria have left information on all kinds of local attractions. I really can't praise them highly enough, I would certainly stay there again.see more
