“Here’s our experience at Damson Cottage, Ford Farm, Henton, Somerset”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2020

The Cottage IS great, BUT we couldn’t possibly recommend it to anyone and here’s why : – First a couple of things they don’t tell you in the description…….. The shower Attachment mentioned in the description is absolutely useless because the Hot water pressure is so low that you cannot run the cold at the same time without overcoming the hot flow and back feeding the hot water tank. However the cold feed is also pretty poor so you are restricted to either a strip wash at the sink or a bath. BUT it takes a long time to run a bath! If you have long hair and needed to wash it you would have to Kneel in the bath with your head under the taps! You do however benefit from the noise of running water from other tenants in adjacent properties running taps, flushing toilets etc. Although I had asked by email if everything was provided , I was not aware that only a small amount of hand wash was provided in the bathroom and some kind of bath/shower gel would have been useful when taking a bath. Fortunately we had at least brought some soap. The exit to the property is extremely dodgy as you cannot see to your left if turning right until you are at the centre line and so are totally dependent upon the acuteness of the oncoming driver! There is a Mirror but it seemed to be angled wrongly – certainly for me. BUT - worst of all your every move will be watched and if you transgress one of the myriad, owners rules (or interpretation of them), you will be publicly shouted at, even in front of young children, they will be ordered to leave the farm and you will be threatened with immediate eviction with no question of explaining that you are saying goodbye, in the open air to your grandchildren and their parents who you haven’t seen for 6 months and probably will not see for another 6 months . So all in all not a great end to a staycation and it certainly spoiled what might otherwise have been a very pleasant experience. Strange Times Indeed. You have been warned!
