Description from the owner
Hale Malaekahana is on beautiful Malaekahana Bay on the North East shore of the island of Oahu and sits on half an acre of land. The house is far enough from the road that you can barely hear cars at all. The Weather on this side of the island is often breezy trade winds with passing clouds with air temperatures averaging around (75 degrees Fahrenheit/24 degrees Celsius) and water temperature consistently at (78 degrees Fahrenheit/26 Celsius) The majority of houses on this bay rent for more than $400 a night!! But we like our little beach shack and if you read the reviews many of our guests do too! The best way to describe this house...Read more

Additional Location Information
Malaekahana Bay is one of the hidden jewels of the island of Oahu. It is not visible from the Hwy, so most visitors blast by it in there cars going 45 mph on there way to the more crowded beaches of the "North Shore". Our house is so hidden that we sometimes have to send people a video to help them find the driveway. The swimming on the bay is safe year round and you can practically walk to the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Mormon Temple in the neighboring town of Laie. There are shopping centers in nearby Haula and Laie towns. There are nearby mom and pop eateries "Kahuku Grill" and "Hukilau Cafe". If you desire a little more fancy eats, You can go to LeiLei's or Olas at the Turtle Bay Resort. What we love to do even better than all of that is to cook and eat the local shrimp and corn right on the outdoor table at Hale Malaekahana.

- Additional People - $20 / day - Per-Person Adjustment - Up to 2 more people can be added

The rental price includes taxes and cleaning fees for your stay. The reason our daily rate goes up is because we still need to include the cleaning cost no matter how long the stay. If you want to add up to 2 additional guests, we will add $20 per person/ per day to the cost of your stay. I think you will find that we are one of the most reasonable beach houses on Malaekahana Bay.

Vancouver, BCThe Perfect Beach House
Left on 04/27/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We had the pleasure of staying at Hale Malaekahana from april 17-24, 2013. None of us wanted to leave! The house was in a perfect location and was equipped with everything you would need. The beach was private and was somewhat secluded during the week. The ocean was nice and warm and the beach in front of the house was sandy and not full of rocks or seaweed. It was fantastic! We have already started thinking about next year and are hoping to make it back. Thanks again for everything! It was a great vacation and we would highly recommend your house to others.

We just arrived home from a 5 night stay at Hale Malaekahana-and had an amazing time there! The reviews are very acurate and the owners are super nice and respond very quickly to any questions!Like they say most people Zoom past this hidden gem-we did three times lol so be sure to follow their detailed directions for finding the house-we left ours at home by accident but called and got there with no problems! The house was perfect for or group of 6 adults 28-35 years old, we all had plenty of room and never felt super crowded, we Bbq'd 2 of the nights and cooked every morning...the place is stocked with everything including swim stuff!! Already miss falling asleep to the sound of the ocean:)

Lebanon, NJThe perfect place for a relaxing, hidden Hawaiian escape!
Left on 02/23/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We enjoyed a week in late January at this beach bungalow. Everything about the house was perfect for us! We felt like we experienced some real island living staying here. If you want a relaxing vacation away from busy Waikiki this is the way to go! The house has a great layout with the main living area and kitchen open and centered with the bedrooms surrounding them. The beach was always quiet and calm and felt super private.. The house was very clean and charming. Its truly a hawaiian style beach house. We would cook at the house some nights or go about 15 minutes away to Haleiwa for dinner.. The roosters outside were a fun surprise for my 3 yr old.. He loved chasing them! Everything with the house was fantastic and we couldnt have been luckier to stumble upon such a great vacation home!

Redmond, WashingtonWish We Had Stayed Longer
Left on 12/29/2012 for a stay in December 2012
This was our first trip to the Hawaiian Islands, and we knew we wanted a comfortable place to land after the six-hour flight. I travel on business often, and am sick of chain hotels with their cookie-cutter faux amenities. This place was the real deal, with absolutely everything we could ever need at a very reasonable price.
We loved being right on the beach, close to town (check out Titi's in nearby Kahuku). We used the snorkel gear and cooler and towels and traipsed all over the North Shore. When back at the house, we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our pajamas; we practically lived on the punee, curled up with guidebooks or surfing on the wifi.
Loved being able to do laundry easily, and hang it up. Outdoor shower is awesome! This is obviously a family beach house, and very well-maintained. The owner is a woodworker and has put a lot of hours in.
Next time, we hope to stay longer! -

Middletown, MDThe most amazing and comfortable rental home I've ever stayed in
Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We just spent 5 glorious days at Hale Malaekahana in Kahuku and I would highly recommend the home for anyone wanting to relax and enjoy "real Hawaii". After posting questions on Trip advisor about the Kahuku area and being told I was crazy to go to the empty side of the North shore, I wasn't at all sure what to expect. But it was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! Hale M. is clearly a family home, well-loved and well-cared for. Did the towels match? - no - but there were bundles of them (both for the bath and the beach) and they were clean and soft. The house sits in the middle of the Malaekahana bay, right on the water, with a beautiful view of the bay and a short little path to the beach. Grab a cup of coffee in the morning and walk down to the beach where you can sit on a little hidden bench to watch the sun rise. The home was stocked with more water toys than I've ever seen - we were able to snorkel, boogie board, walk on the rocks in the supplied water shoes, and even tried our luck with the sea kayak.
The best thing about Hale M. is the feeling of home - not like most rental units that are more like a big cold hotel room. At Hale M. we felt safe, comfortable and had everything we could possibly want to make our stay a good one. All the kitchen-ware and appliances you could imagine were there along with tons of spices for cooking, soap, paper towels and trash bags so you didn't have to worry about starting from scratch when you arrived.
The owners, Stan & Marcia McCrea, were responsive to any of our questions, helpful with what to do and where to go in the area, and welcomed us into their family home. They were great, the home was awesome and I can't think of anything that would make Hale M. any better!

We had an amazing stay. We loved the homey feel of your home, and recommend staying here. The neighbors were great, and the beach was beautiful. We love all of the beach toys that were there. I really enjoyed the outside shower. We have bragged so much to our friends about our stay, and posted so many pictures on Facebook. My sister from Columbus, Ohio even was married on the beach. We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We will be back!

Left on 05/27/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We spent 1 week at Hale Malaekahana...3 adults, 3 boys ages 10-13. Perfect for the 6 of us. Plenty of room to spread out both inside and out. Large lani, huge back yard, and just steps to the beautiful, sandy, deserted beach! Rustic/homey enough so no worries the boys would destroy anything. Everything you need for a fun, safe, comfortable, stay.

Fabulous beach house just off the road but the only sounds you hear are the birds in the morning and the lulling surf at night. Has everything you need for a great time- boogie boards, snorkel equipment,BBQ, outdoor shower, stocked kitchen with d/w WiFi. House is in good shape and cared for, a new lanai is in progress and detailed carpentry in the master bedroom. Would go again in a heartbeat.

A very nice beach house close to Kahuku. A stone's throw away from a beach. Gorgeous view of the water from the kitchen. Porch surrounding the house with sitting and lounging areas. Very helpful owners. Would recommend it to anyone.

Cambridge, OntarioPerfect laid back vacation spot
Left on 12/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This is the perfect beach house for any family vacation. Plenty of space and a huge porch for relaxing and having dinner etc. The beach is just steps away and was practically deserted anytime we went. The owners provide all kinds of surf boards and other gear for enjoying the ocean. Located near grocery stores and restaurants, you have plenty of options for meals. Also close to many tourist spots so there's never a shortage of things to do. We all had a excellent time a hope to be back soon.

I totally recommend this place for groups/families up to 6-7 persons. The house is located next to the beach with direct access to Kamehameha Hwy and about 1 hour to Honolulu and 15 minutes to the north shore.
Despite it's absolutely calm out there and you might be able to be the only person who is around at the beach.
The house provides surfboards and bodyboards and we absolutely loved the outdoor shower.
The owner is a local and full of tips and advices to enrich your time in Hawai'i. He went out on a Kayak tour with us as he also works as a tour guide. -

I love watching the myriad of blues, purples, pinks, and oranges parade across the sky as the sun rises over the horizon, while listening to the roar of the crashing waves upon the shore. The best part...it's all while laying quietly in bed in the comfort of the Hale M's master bedroom. This is my "umpteenth" time staying at this beautiful haven with it's mismatched decor and million dollar location. I can't say enough about it! All the reviews are on point. Don't come here if your expecting The Ritz Carlton, but do come here if you"re looking for a cozy beach house in the middle of an unpopulated, perfect swimming bay with the magical ability to melt all your troubles away(-or at least help you to forget about them for a brief moment. LoL). Hale M is the best atmosphere to create unforgettable memories with your loved ones. I would highly recommend it! Thanks Marsha, Stanley, and Family for sharing this piece of heaven on earth. A hui ho! :)

My Partner and 2 sons loved being there. The house is newly renovated and very comfortable & charming.
We loved the location beachfront just 30 yards from the beach with a great view of most of the bay & Islands. Biggest problem was I hardly got to be with my sons unless I joined them Boogie boarding and surfing all day at the bay!
This has got to be one of the best beaches and reasonable homes on Oahu
Much Thanks Todd Dacey & Family -

If you want to be on the water with no stress, then this is the rental for you. It is perfect for a family. As promised, everything worked...but nothing was fancy so there was no stress that my younger children could break or damage anything. You can open the sliding doors and sweep out the sand, have a barbeque on the Lani and comfortably seat everyone, spend the day on the beach or lounging on the lani overlooking the ocean. It is very private and the beach never feels as if you are sharing it with more than a neighbor or two. Early morning walks to watch the sun come up are a must - grab a mug of coffee and go! The kitchen is spacious so everyone can join in making meals. There is a wonderful outside shower. We absolutely loved our stay there and can't wait to go back!

This Malaekahana beach-house has been a perfect get-away for us because of the perfect location and the relaxing, comfortable environment. The wrap around porch is great for playing cards, board games, etc. and is so comfy we usually have all our meals there. All the necessities are available and the kitchen is well stocked. We have always had a great time here.

This beautiful home offers everything you could ask for! The location is absolutely perfect for listening to the sounds of the ocean while watching the sun come up on one of the many decks surrounding the house. You are literally steps to one of the most beautiful secluded beaches in Hawaii. We found the beds to be extremely comfy and plenty of seating both inside and out. Restaurants, golf and numerous other activities are only a short distance away. Truly a treasure!
