Description
Green Gables of Asheville recalls the elegance of bygone days. The ground floor has a full 1250 square feet of private space, including 2 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a living room with sleeper sofa, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and dining area. There are high coffered ceilings, antique chandeliers, restored heart pine floors and original period details throughout. Each of the two large bedrooms has its own wood-burning fireplace and seating area. The living room, furnished with the comfortable elegance of 1920's period antiques, features a third fireplace and a large flat screen with cable TV and DVD player, a CD (ipod-ready) player, high-speed wireless internet and free long distance phone. The home is provided with every convenience, including a washer and dryer (detergent provided,) soaps & shampoo, and pillow-top mattresses with luxurious Egyptian cotton linens that promise a restful night's sleep. The large kitchen is provided with coffee, tea, sugar, sweeteners and cream. All new appliances (large & small) and a gas grill just outside - everything you need to prepare gourmet meals. A grocery store with organic food is within walking distance.
Maps, activity guides and up-to-date restaurant information are provided to help you plan your days and evenings. For quiet times at home, there are lots of board games, over 75 DVD's, CDs, books & magazines.
The famous BILTMORE ESTATE is only four minutes away, and Asheville's restaurants, coffee houses, museums, art galleries, and live entertainment are even closer. Shoppers will love the boutiques and the charming, eclectic shops. Many antique stores and warehouses are located less than 10 minutes away - an antique hunter's paradise with bargains galore. A 7-minute walk brings you to the River Arts District with sidewalk cafes and more than 150 artists' studios. The area is also great for sports enthusiasts. It's a 15-minute walk to one of the best clay tennis courts in North Carolina and a 10-minute drive to the nearest golf course. Great biking - level bike paths near the house (including Biltmore Estate bike paths), and hilly terrain in town and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is even a skateboard park within walking distance. Green Gables is CLOSE TO EVERYTHING - so take a break from sightseeing or shopping to relax on the huge wrap around porch. Sit in the romantic swing that overlooks the gardens or dine al fresco. The porch is the place to gather on balmy summer evenings to watch the moon rise and to soak up the relaxing, candlelight atmosphere.
Other nearby activities include spas, YWCA (10 minute walk), live music & dancing (17 minute walk), several micro breweries within walking distance, bars and restaurants 15 minutes away (walking time,) yoga, farmers markets, and University of North Carolina activities, and much, much more. This elegant and luxurious vacation homestay is a place to experience a romantic getaway that you will remember always.
Green Gables is pet friendly and child friendly. Well-behaved dogs will be considered (pet fee applies.) There is a large fenced dog park nearby. The veranda and front yard are fenced and gated for the security of small children and pets. Low-rise beds are available for small children, as well as cribs, high chair and baby baths. Everything folds away for daytime storage in the roomy walk-in closet. . Excellent facilities for day care and summer camp programs are located nearby.

Dogs are permitted only with prior approval. Cats are not permitted. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse.
Ask Owner to show you how to use the cast-iron fireplaces. Do not leave when a fire is burning. Use only Duraflame logs.
