“Good location - friendly host.” The apartment was very clean and comfortable and Pino was extremely friendly and helpful with lots of good tips and information. He kept in touch by text throughout our week long visit. The area is local and not touristy, the apartment is set back in a block away from the road. There is a small supermarket across the road, and a market nearby and a good takeaway pizza restaurant. Access to the centre is very easy with a choice of buses and the tram only a few minutes walk away. The garden is a bonus for evening meals outside. When we stayed it was extremely hot, 38 degrees all week, there is a ceiling fan in the main bedroom but the other room where our sons were staying would have benefitted from a couple of portable fans. The mosquitoes were also out in force so I would advise plenty of deet insect repellent and citronella candles in the height of summer, there is fly screen on the main bedroom windows but not on the others. Make sure you pre-book the Vatican museums so you skip the queues which are very long, the bus around the corner takes you almost directly to St Peter's Square. It is also worth pre-booking tickets to the Colosseum. The park over the road is ideal for a leisurely Sunday picnic and makes a change from the hustle and bustle of the city. We would stay again but we would probably choose Spring or Autumn.

The Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede - Free Airport Pickup!

“We will return to this perfect apartment!” My husband, mother, sister-in-law and I stayed at the Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede for 5 nights at the end of October. Our stay here was perfect in every way. The owner, David, was incredibly helpful with the booking process, assisting with logistics, and making recommendations. After long flights from the USA, we greatly appreciated David arranging for a complimentary car service from the airport to the apartment. We were met at the apartment by the manager who helped us settle in quickly, left us with groceries, and oriented us to the city and nearby attractions. She also arranged our transportation back to the airport. The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the pictures, exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable. We had everything we needed including access to a laptop, WIFI, and printer. We had plenty of room and privacy for four guests. The location is perfect for getting to all the major sites either by walking or by the nearby taxi stand (public transportation is also close by, we just didn't happen to use it). The neighborhood is safe and charming. A favorite restaurant recommended by David and within walking distance was Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino. David also recommended a company that offers personalized tours with private guides, called Rome and Tuscany Tours. We booked a scooter tour of the city, a walking tour of ancient Rome, and a day trip to Pompeii and Positano, and all were excellent and unforgettable experiences. We really can't say enough about our wonderful experience with The Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede and our host, David. We look forward to our next trip to Rome and staying again at this lovely apartment.

“Modern apartment/great location” The apartment was modern, clean, very well lit and fabulously located. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoyed many good restaurants in the area as well. Francesco was a gracious and accommodating landlord who had information in the apartment for restaurants, sight seeing, maps and almost anything else you would want. We very much enjoyed our one month stay in Rome at this comfortable and well-appointed apartment.

“Comfortable apartment in excellent location” We stayed here for 5 nights recently. After a warm welcome from Lucia who kindly let us leave our luggage in the apartment after our early morning arrival in Rome we went for a stroll and within no time found ourselves in the impressive St Peter's Square. Very handy location for the Vatican and close to trains and buses to get to all parts of Rome. Some nice restaurants and excellent gelato nearby. Good aircon for the hot Rome days in late June, comfortable beds and lovely rooftop views. Lucia was excellent to deal with from start to finish and we had a wonderful stay in Rome with this great home base.

“Excellent apartment in an excellent location” Stephano and family were fantastic. Arranged for a car service to pick us up at the airport and drop us off at the apartment. The apartment is perfect with all the needed amenities and a short walk to metro, markets and places to eat. Couldn't ask for a better experience. “Magnificent Easter in Rome” We stayed with Matilde for three nights over the Easter weekend. We were met by our gracious host. On our bed was an Italian egg filled with chocolates. This BnB is in a great safe location and the room was a quiet get away. The breakfast as a feast! The company of Matilde in her lovely sitting room was a great way to start our day. She became our friend. Logistics: good hard bed, lots of blankets, enough outlets for all our appliances and lap top and phones, and good security. Close to metro, although we took a cab from terminal, we did a couple of trips on the metro Without reservation, we would stay here again.

“Made our stay fantastic!” I would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to stay in Rome. We were met at the apartment by aldo and was shown around. He pointed out tourist sites and which metro or bus to get there. There was a local cell phone there for our use. Mid stay he brought by a nice dessert for us to enjoy. He even set up the taxi service to/from airport. It is on a busy street, but the windows blocked most of the noise and I didn't have any problems sleeping at night. It is in a great location. You can walk to most sights. The metro and bus stops were very close by for the sights that were not within walking distance.

S.Giovanni Rome Centre Ancient Walls Apartment

“Great base for exploring Rome” The service by the owner, Alessio, was superb and, for a 20 euro surcharge (to pay an extra cleaner), we were able to check-in when we arrived from the airport, rather than hanging around Rome with suitcases or paying more than that for left luggage lockers at Termini Station. We were also able to check-out early (at just after 07.00) to enable us to catch our flight at no surcharge. The flat is a very good size for 4 people with tiled floors throughout. Bed linen, towels, soap etc are supplied and, whilst the flat doesn't have the safe, wood stove or washing machine mentioned in the listing, it has all of the other items and breakfast, lunch etc are easily rustled up in the kitchen. On a personal level, I'd have liked a couple of chopping boards and a sharper knife but we managed fine with what was there. The entry to the apartment block and to the flat itself are very secure with an excellent locking system and, whilst there are a few steps up from street level before the stairs up to the flat on the first floor, there is also a lift for anyone unable to manage too many stairs. The people, shopkeepers, cafe & restaurant proprieters around the flat were all friendly and helpful and there is a Fishmongers, Butchers and Greengrocers as well as a "Spar" supermarket within a couple of hundred yards. The 16, 81 & 810 buses from the city centre stop right outside the flat door and the stop, for going into the city centre is just across the street. All of these buses pass the San Giavanni Metro station and link up (at Porta San Giavanni) with loads of other buses going to anywhere you are liable to want to go to. All in all it was an excellent base for our stay in Rome at a very reasonable cost.

“Great stay and great host” We had a great stay in Rome not only because it is a wonderful city to visit but also because we benfitted from a perfect accommodation positioned very close to the Vatican,which was comfortable, well furnished and slept all six of us at a reasonable price. Mary, the landowner, was equally very helpful with any questions we had and was always at hand to make our stay in Rome as successful as possible. Highly recommended.

“Quiet & Beautiful Roman Apartment” Staying at this cozy apartment, outside of the city center, is a nice way to experience Rome. My wife and I found this place clean and beautifully appointed. It's a 20min walk to Vatican City. Paola made coordination quick and easy. She left a useful guide book with recommendations for restaurants and directions to use public transportation. I recommend utilizing the car service if you are traveling with much luggage to and from the airport.

“Centrally located attic apartment, full of character and very ho” We have had a wonderful time in Roma and this apartment was perfect for us; a family with two teenagers. “Fantastic apartment in the heart of Rome - stay here!” This was our second stay in two years at this apartment. We came back as we had a perfect stay the first time. Everything was great this time again. The booking process was very smooth the owner Lucia organised a taxi from airport which was very handy. This apartment has it all - it's central location for sight seeing, spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. It feels like a home from home and is tastefully decorated. We were met on arrival by the owner Lucia who welcomed us and showed us around the apartment. The kitchen is well serviced with complimentary tea, coffee, busicuits and snacks. Hairdryers, towels tolitries and free wifi are all provided. The apartment is a hidden gem in the cobbled streets of Rome. A large supermarket, famous bakery and shops are just metres away. This apartment is an ideal base for exploring Rome and we will definitely be staying again on our next trip to Rome.

“Great quiet apartment in the very heart of historic Rome” Lucia's apartment is very comfortable, quiet, and impeccably clean. The bedroom is a good size, with plenty of storage, and the sofabed in the living room is extremely comfortable to sleep on. Lucia is an excellent hostess, thinking of every detail and information.
