“Not as welcoming as we hoped!”
We stayed at Barn cottage for October half term. We chose this accommodation as we had 3 boys and 4 dogs with us. We were disappointed to be told when we arrived that there was really nowhere that we could run the dogs off lead. We were aware when booking that the dogs had to be kept on a lead around the farm but understood that there were surrounding walks /fields where the dogs could run off lead. Having paid an extra £25 per dog we did not feel they were really catered for. We were also disappointed to be told, again on arrival, that there was nowhere where the boys 12, 12 and 11 could kick a ball around. On one occassion when they were passing a ball to each other while waiting for us to pack the car ready to go out for the day they were told to stop! We in fact felt like an imposition in what is a working farm and office. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. The kitchen/dining area with its wood burning stove is lovely and very cosy. The wood burner in the lounge does not work and although there is a radiator it does not heat the room very effectively and without a wood burner in the winter it is not particularly cosy.

Response from the owner Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We were surprised at your comments as at no time during your stay did you tell us of any issues and there are places for dogs to run off lead nearby which we would have been happy to tell you about. It is a little more difficult when you have four dogs who are not used to other animals or the countryside. And yes, sadly we did have to ask your boys to stop kicking their ball against the door of the wooden farm office building and shouting as it was quite disturbing for the people working inside. This is not something we have ever had to do before as our one or two staff enjoy having a friendly morning hello with the guests, and the office is only manned part time. Again, there are many places all around us (we are surrounded by sandy beaches) but perhaps a quiet organic farm was not the ideal choice for you if that was what you wanted from your holiday. Had you asked us if there was anywhere appropriate for football before you booked, we would gladly have explained this and could have directed to the recreation ground just a mile away. The woodburner in the lounge was repaired in early 2021 - unfortunately this was later than planned due to the engineer postponing because of covid and beyond our control. We did explain this and apologise and provided you with extra radiators. Our guests are never an imposition - we enjoy having guests here and love reading all the positive reviews about their wonderful holidays. We are so glad you enjoyed our cottage other than your couple of issues mentioned above. It's such a shame you didn't raise them with us before as we can't help with them when you are home.

“Lizard Sanctuary”
We stayed in the lovely Barn Cottage in the Lizard for a weeks holiday which is in very easy reach of so many fantastic locations on the Lizard. Stunning coastline and beautiful scenery. Check out Roskilly ice creams and Ann’s pasties, the best!

“Peaceful get away”
Booked a weeks stay for an end of summer break in a peaceful place and this place is just the ticket. Located on a small farm in woodland it is certainly away from any main roads or noise and you are the only guests. There is the main farm house and a small cottage located around you but apart from that there is nothing. You are only a few minutes drive from Lizard and Lizard Point and there are beautiful coves, beaches and cliff top walks all around. Sandra gave us a very warm welcome and ran through things in the cottage like the wood burners. There was a welcome tin of biscuits and some fresh goats milk along with tea, coffee and sugar. After the welcome we were left to do what we wanted and weren't disturbed by anyone unless you wanted to talk to Sandra or Peter. The cottage is huge inside. Plenty of seats and 3 separate bedrooms - one double and two twins plus a bathroom with shower and a separate shower room. Thank you Sandra and Peter for a wonderful week away,.
