Description

If you are looking for a place to experience the mountains and all that Western North Carolina has to offer, our Blessing Ridge mountain home could be an ideal choice for you! Completed in late 2011 our home is located at a 2500 foot elevation within the boundaries of the Nantahala National Forest. It has the feel of a remote mountain getaway…without the usual steep mountain driving. It also has easy access to neighbors and to nearby suburban amenities. You will enjoy great views from every room in the house with breathtaking 180 degree, long range mountain views from our great room, dining room and wrap around covered porch. If you like to cook you will even enjoy the view while cooking on an IKEA gas stove inserted into a cooking island complete with chef table seating! The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances so there is no roughing it at Blessing Ridge.

The great room with a family room loft overlooking it has wood floors, tongue and groove wood paneling on its vaulted ceiling and a fireplace in a floor to ceiling stone wall. The fireplace will be stocked with a supply of fire logs in the fall and winter...and a candle fire log insert in the summer. There is a new 55" LED HD Flat-Screen TV mounted above fireplace with a DISH Satellite Package waiting for you. Blessing Ridge is also equipped with wireless internet. Be advised that internet in the mountains is not lightning fast but it's enough for you to easily check your email or post some vacation photos on Facebook!

The dining room butcher block table will seat 10 with beautiful views of its own. Or you may enjoy supper on the adjacent shaded wrap around covered porch with gas grill and comfortable seating for 6 in the dining area. There’s additional space to relax on a red cedar two person glider on the covered rocking porch and a sunning deck with two chaise lounges adjacent to a 7 person lounger hot tub equipped with L.E.D. lighting. Every seat has a different jet configuration so we have enjoyed playing musical seats in the hot tub! It’s also an especially great spot to enjoy the starlit mountain sky.

Our home will sleep 8 (6adults and 2 kids) on three queen beds and a twin bunks in the upstairs bedroom. The house has three full baths with tub and shower, with a 9 jet Jacuzzi in the Master Bath! There is also a full-size ping pong table in the loft.

While the terrain for many mountain view home locations may feel a bit treacherous for younger kids, our home’s grassy hills are kid-friendly and provide a great place for sledding…on the grass as well as during the occasional winter snow. A fire pit on the ridge with a panoramic view of the mountains from three 6' spruce benches. A great place for a cookout or to enjoy smores with the lids! The adjacent hillsides are also a favorite morning and evening hang-out for numerous white-tailed deer. Located on the side of the 3500’ Lyle Knob, you don’t even need to get in your car to enjoy some great hiking. Exploring the undeveloped areas of Buck Mountain Estates on switch backing gravel paths provides some great aerobic exercise and stunning views at the higher elevations.

Our home is located one mile from US Highway 441, a short 10 minute drive to Franklin in Western North Carolina. It is 75 minutes from the Asheville Airport and 2 ½ hours from the Atlanta Airport.
