Description

Green End House is an idyllic getaway for those seeking tranquility, calm and the beauty of the Lake District.

Ideally situated on the quieter, western side of Lake Windermere, Green End House is a Grade II listed property set in mature gardens and stunning countryside near to Hawkshead. Guest accommodation, bedroom, sitting room and breakfast room are all in the Georgian extension to the original 17th century building, are south facing, high ceilinged and feature views to Esthwaite Water.

I run the house as a b&b and offer two letting rooms. As a result of Covid 19 I'm restricting the use of shared spaces, this means that I serve breakfast at separate sittings but I'm unable to offer sitting room access.

Your pets are welcome too, as are up to 2 children, who I'm able to accommodate in an adjoining room to the main bedroom.

Getting around

There's an hourly bus service from Hawkshead to Coniston or to Ambleside. There are a number of circular routes from the house, or Hawkshead village which are suitable for walkers and cyclists. I keep a small library of maps and guidebooks

Interaction with guest

I live at the property with my 2 small rescue dogs, Lola and Mila. I'm on hand to serve breakfasts in the morning and am generally not too far away from the house. I work nearby for the National Trust and I can generally be relied on for recommendations for walks, food and drink, local history and nature.

“Fantastic”

Paul the owner was very welcoming and room and facilities are great. Our room has a view straight out into the local fields and is nicely tucked away yet accessible. The house overlooks hawks head a short 5 minute walk and you are in the pub and near shops. Lots around the area all a scenic walk or short drive. For the money was amazing and he does a fantastic breakfast Paul offers directions and advice to all local hot spots and images are of Tarn Howls which was a holiday highlight. Advice is not to wear cream shorts and sit on wet ground during walks as per the image If going book all meals in advance as pubs are fully booked normally a few days in advance and can only sit in limited beer gardens when space is available.
