Experience Hawaii Island like a local while staying in our simple, cozy, Hawaiian style family beach house! The home has been in our family since 1991 and brought us so many fond family memories playing in the park and swimming at the beach. This is an older home that is CLEAN, well cared for, with quite a few updates to floors and fixtures. If you are looking for 5 star resort style accommodations or air conditioning, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a laid back quality stay and a HOME away from home, THIS IS FOR YOU.

Our home is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport, downtown Hilo, and right at Onekahakaha Beach Park. This beautiful beach park is Hilo's only sand bottom beach. It is the perfect spot for families with kids or beginning swimmers as it is protected by a large break wall, and has county Lifeguards consistently.

The park is fully loaded with pavilions, swings sets, picnic tables, great big trees for shade, and lots of grass for lounging and playing. The park gates are closed at night to preserve a quiet and private atmosphere for the tiny beach neighborhood.

With a short drive it is close to all the best attractions like waterfalls, swimming holes, surf spots, shops, restaurants, the Zoo, music, and art. A 30 minute drive will get you to the active volcano of Kilauea or Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

Interaction with guest

Guests will be messaged upon booking to confirm reservation and share location and door code. The guest specialized door codes will automatically be set to work from 5PM HST on check in day and deactivate at 10AM HST on check out day. All communications will be made virtually through messaging, no in-person meeting is necessary unless a guest requires additional services or something needs repair during their stay. There is another unit on property with its own door, parking, entrance and facilities. The unit is connect to the home but privacy is maintained between the two units.
