Description from owner

Description

A 1400 sq ft, stone cottage in a stunning location in County Kerry and with one acre of grounds leading to the water's edge, a terrace and private beach.

Seal Rock Cottage has panoramic views of the ocean, islands and mountains. Situated on Rossmore Island, County Kerry it is connected to the famous Ring of Kerry by an ancient stone bridge.

The interior has been designed by Andrew Burch, the much acclaimed Welsh Interior Designer and consists of a sitting room with library and open log fire, a garden room with cast iron stove, a surround sound home entertainment system and stunning views over the water. And a dining area, a luxury kitchen fully equipped with Siemens American style fridge/freezer, Siemens dishwasher and Zanussi stainless steel oven and hob. The laundry room contains a Siemens washing machine and separate tumble dryer. The downstairs cloakroom lies beyond.

The grounds are sympathetically landscaped retaining many of the existing natural features including a stream, mini-waterfalls and pools.

A path follows the stream towards the ocean, over a bridge and ends at a waterside terrace. Sit, relax and enjoy the spectacular mountain views and ever changing seascape.

Steps lead down from the terrace to a private beach suitable for fishing, bathing or the landing of small craft.

Sorry but no children under 16 or pets.

Inspected and selected for inclusion in Alastair Sawday's Special Places. Also featured property in Country Homes and Interiors magazine.

Beyond the nearby McGillycuddys Reeks lies the famous lakes and town of Killarney – a mere one hours drive. Also within 90 minutes are the world class golf courses of Tralee, Ballybunion, Dooks, Waterville and the Ring of Kerry (10 minutes). The region has unequalled scenery, where the beauty of mountains, sea, lakes and woodland can be seen in varying light and shades whatever the weather. Because the shore is washed by the Gulf Stream, the area enjoys a mild climate where tropical plants flourish outdoors. The Ring of Kerry follows the coastline and is one of the most dramatic scenic drives in the country. A multitude of interests and activities are available including walking, riding, cycling, canoeing, fishing, boating and golf. Guides and Ghillies can be arranged. Nearby Kenmare is renowned for its fine dining restaurants and music-filled traditional pubs and is a mere 15 minutes away.Fishing, boating and bicycles can be arranged., ask the owners for details.
