“Serene and beautiful” We weren't quite sure what to expect from our three week stay at the ranch, and we were definitely not disappointed. The scenery was spectacular, the air was clean and crisp, the Hideout was more than we had anticipated and John and Lynn could not have been more gracious. The washer and dryer were an added bonus. We would stay there again and we recommend this rental to anyone.

“Relaxing and Beautiful!” Such a great place for a relaxing break from life! We stayed in the Pine Creek cabin this June for a relaxing week. The cabin is cute, comfortable and well equipped. The land the cabin sits on is breathtaking! Views of Yellowstone River, the gorgeous mountains of Paradise Valley and the little babbling creek that sits behind the property make for a delightful experience. The town of Livingston has everything you need and we found the people charming and helpful! You are about a 45 minute drive to Yellowstone and only 20 or so minutes to Chico Hot Springs. The sunsets were awesome and the deer moseying around the yard were a delightful bonus. All and all a great place to stay!

Bridger Vista Lodge - Luxury Log Cabin**Enjoy the mountains in comfort**

Bozeman log cabin

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 10

“Beautiful home with perfect location” Bridger Vista is a gorgeous log home that seemed designed just for our needs. The kitchen had everything and more for my wife to bake and serve all our favorite meals and I loved grilling outside on the deck with the mountain view. We chose this house to rent partially because of the Internet and Satellite TV, but the fresh mountain air was so invigorating that we spent all our time out doors and hardly turned on the TV or the computer. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens and I never slept better. Our boys hiked every day and we all went fishing nearby and caught trout for dinner. I can't say enough about the location. It is in the mountains away from Bozeman, but we had no trouble getting around quickly to attractions in the area and even Yellowstone Park. We used to go to the beach each summer, but now I think I like Montana better and Bridger Vista made it even better. We will be back.

About Livingston

This town in Montana is the perfect vacation for anybody seeking adventure, relaxation or just to get away. Livingston has many things for you to do, and you’ll never be bored. Start searching for your Livingston vacation rental on FlipKey, so you can find the perfect place to stay!

About Livingston

Livingston is located on the Yellowstone River and was originally the gateway to Yellowstone National Park. In 1806, Captain William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition, alongside Sacajawea, actually camped near what is now Livingston!

Livingston has a long history dating back to 1882. Before that, it was a trading post called Benson's Landing, but then Northern Pacific Railway came along and renamed it Clark City.

Soon after, Clark City was moved and then renamed to Livingston after one of NPR's stockholders and director, Johnston Livingston.

NPR also built a railroad, which was to become the town's main source of income. Livingston was also the occasional home to the famous Calamity Jane!

Since then Livingston is grown into an eclectic town that will offer you so many opportunities. Whether you're into history, arts & culture, outdoor recreations or even just shopping; Livingston has something for you!

What to do

Livingston offers plenty of activities including biking, hiking, and even horseback riding. As it is located near the Yellowstone River, it is also the perfect spot for fly fishing!

Rafting is also available if you'd like to float along the Yellowstone River and take in the beautiful wildlife.

Livingston is enjoyable in all seasons, so whether summer or winter, there's something for you to do. If you’re visiting in winter, then make sure to go dogsledding through the Montana mountains!

For history buffs, be sure to stop by the several museums located in town. To find out more about North America's Wild West days, check out Yellowstone Gateway Museum, and discover Livingston's long history.

If you're hungry, there’s plenty to eat in Livingston from bison burger to vegetarian food. You'll be pleased to know that some restaurants also participate Western Sustainability Exchange’s Montana Farm to Restaurant campaign, ensuring that all food used is locally produced!

Top Livingston travel tips

If you're visiting in June, be aware that the rivers can be dangerous due to snow melting from the winter months, making it difficult to fish.

If you're planning to hike, then make use you check conditions before you head out! Also, cell phones often won't work in mountainous areas.

Unfortunately, there is no public transportation in Livingston, so you'll either have to rent a car or bike around town.

Livingston is close to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport but is also served by Billings Logan International Airport.

Livingston is the best vacation spot due to its many activities, beautiful scenery and friendly locals! Enjoy live theater like no other, breathtaking ranges and many unique stores here in Livingston. Head on over to FlipKey to find your Livingston property to rent whilst you're visiting!

Home In Paradise next to Yellowstone National Park
We are headed back to this little slice of heaven

We took our two boys here back in July of 2011. They had a blast, and so did we! They were 4 and 9 years old. Last year we did Disney World, swamp boat rides & more in Florida. We offered Hawaii, California, theme parks, etc for this summer. Our boys said no Way-we want to go back to art's house in Montana! (And honestly, we the parents are in full agreement!) Yellowstone National Park is nearby. We took a day drive through some nearby mountains. We saw bear, moose & fed chipmunks right on the side of the road! We did a horseback ride at a nearby ranch, hiked to a waterfall (with our bear spray on our hips), went fishing in the river which is just a short walk down the road, enjoyed big steaks & corn on the cob with a fantastic view of the valley & mountains from the big wood deck, played board games with our kids, threw a baseball in the yard, checked out the old chicken coop, talked to the neighbors whose black lab loved to come visit and play fetch with my boys, went into town & took in the shops and train museum, bought some cowboy boots at the western store, slept in because the beds were so comfortable, saw deer right outside our bedroom window when we woke up, enjoyed a quick Montana that caused the power to go out (super exciting stuff because the kids had to use flashlights in the house), took photos of old barns & the beautiful scenery, went white water rafting and just relaxed in our spare time. The house was really comfortable. We were very happy with our entire stay. Bill the office manager was awesome. Everything was better than expected.see more
Deep Creek Guest Cabin
Perfect spot for quiet nights

My husband and I stayed in this lovely little cottage with our two grandsons. An extremely quiet location with lovely scenery. Loved the comfortable bed, great bathroom, and the sound of the little creek in the background (which we explored with the boys). Wish we had the time to spend another night!see more
The Cargill-Earl Guesthouse at Erik's Ranch
Secluded, Amazing Views

My husband and I had a great stay at Erik's Ranch. A great place to stay if you are looking for a secluded, quiet experience. It is close enough to Livingston that you can easily get everything you need. If you are looking to go to Yellowstone, this would be a great place to stay for the first or last part of your trip. Also, there are some great hiking trails not very far from the property. We look forward to going back. It is notable that, although not necessary, we were really glad we chose a Jeep as a rental car to get to this property. A little leg of the trip to the cabin is unpaved.see more
Michael Ranch Hideout, Family Friendly, Re-Opens May 1
PERFECT COMFORT, GORGEOUS OPEN SPACE, AND EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATION

Our stay at the hideout was more than memorable. The mobile home is cozy, with a perfect, PRIVATE location immediatly adjacent to a large Angus pasture with views of mountains all around. John & Lynn are very friendly. They provided a very high level of customer service and went above and beyond to insure we had the best experience possible. It was an inspiration to hear their story. BEST RANCH RENTAL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT! Cant wait to get back again ...see more
