Description

Captains Cottage - Graded 4 Star Platinum

Arriving at this delightful Cornish Cottage along beautiful undulating country lanes surrounded by stunning countryside and sea views, you will feel the peace and tranquility of this location even before you step into the inviting open plan style living space.

The spacious kitchen / diner extends into a separate utility area / boot room, providing a light-airy feel with a modern interior.

The cosy living room with wood burning stove, is warm and welcoming and perfect for relaxing in after one of the many stunning countryside or coastal walks that are literally on your doorstep. The Cottages' nautical touches remind you that you are only three miles from the nearest beach and just four miles from some of South Cornwall's most picturesque fishing harbours.

The light and bright master bedroom with Kingsize bed comes complete with your very own chaise longue, perfect for taking some time out to read, or reflect on the wonders of the area, and the second bedroom is spacious, light and an impressively furnished home for the rest of your guests.

The relaxing terrace garden offers outside dining for six people for those hot, balmy Cornish evenings - perfect for a BBQ or just star gazing in the peace and quiet with a chilled glass of wine.

The added beauty of this peaceful retreat is the wonderful location and comfortable furnishings. With a fantastic farm shop and friendly local pub just a short stroll away, country to coast walks and spectacular beaches, you'll be envious of the locals in no time.

There are great transport links, with five buses a day passing by toward the seaside, and the quaint fishing ports of Looe, Polperro and Fowey. If you prefer somewhere a bit quieter, then a trip to Seaton, Downderry, Whitsand Bay, Lansallos, Lantic Bay or Cawsands are a must.

Getting around

In terms of eating out, the Waves Bar, Seaton, the Inn on the Shore in Downderry, the Carew Arms, Anthony, the Devonport Pub in Cawsands do a good selection of Cornish ale and food. The best fish and chips in the area can be purchased at The Coddy Shack just outside central Looe (5 minutes drive) or The Catch run by the Tanner Brothers in central Looe. There are a number of very good restaurants locally that include: The Blue Plate in Downderry, The Treby Arms in Sparkwell (Michelin Star), Tapenades in Liskeard or in Looe: The Plough on the Quay, The Old Sail Loft, Ocean and Earth Thai or Mama J’s Pizzeria. All offer varying different degrees of good food that we can recommend. You certainly won't be short of good places to eat!
