Description from owner

Description

Eco Cove house is an elegant vacation home centrally located on a 117 acre wildlife preserve in Western North Carolina, 30 minutes from Asheville. The property adjoins the Pisgah National Forest. It is a 1500 square foot house, a peaceful, romantic getaway. It is spacious and artistic, with many family works of art.

The Living room, formal dining room (seats 6) and master bedroom access a 50' porch overlooking the forest. A burbling creek, glider, wicker rocking chairs lounge, and a table for 2 with fountain chairs contribute to the wonderful peacefulness of the porch. The living room sports a rock wall, 2 couches and 2 Lazyboy chairs. There is a wide screen TV with satellite, a stereo/record player, radio, and a small music library.

Eco Cove offers a King ensuite bedroom and a queen bedroom with a full bathroom across the hall. The master suite includes a hot tub for weekly rentals (drained and cleaned after each week's rental) and an entertainment center with DVD/VCR/TV and movie library. (NOTE: The hot tub is unavailable during the pandemic.)

Our full kitchen has all the amenities for cooking and complete sets of dishes. It has a full stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and microwave. It adjoins a breakfast nook with a bay window overlooking the gardens. There are 4 chairs, a table, and a small counter for easy eating. Across from the nook is an open den, with a wild animal theme. (It has a day bed which sleeps two children, with owner's approval, and would incur an extra charge of $22 per person, per night, with a maximum of 6 people total in the home.) There is a half bath on the other side of the room. Additional people (2) are with the owner's approval only.

There is an acre pond on our preserve and we are happy to provide you with fish food to feed our friendly koi. Foxes, raccoons, opossums, turkey, deer and bunnies are frequent visitors.

Eco Cove is located on a state maintained road, 1/2 mile from 70 Highway, and 10 minutes from Old Fort or Marion with shopping, restaurants and bars. Lake James and 2 waterfalls are also very close by.

We are 20 minutes from Black Mountain or Morgantown, and 30 minutes from Asheville, our favorite city in the south. This area of Western North Carolina is known for its festivals, waterfalls, hiking trails, food, breweries, vineyards and, of course, the Biltmore House. We think the natural beauty of our National Wildlife Certified Cove is at the top of the list. At Eco Cove you are surrounded by tranquility and beauty. It is its own paradise.

Getting around

We are 1/2 mile from Highway 70, 5 minutes from groceries and 7 minutes to Marion or Old Fort. We are the gateway to the mountains. Lake James is about 15 minutes away as are Black Mountain and Morgantown. Linville and Asheville are about 30 minutes. Restaurants abound, hiking, art centers, waterfalls, zip lines, snowboarding, kids play centers, shopping, and everything you'd want to see and do on a vacation in Western North Carolina is nearby!

Interaction with guest

Our home is on the 117 acre wildlife preserve, and we are available during your stay. We have information on what to see and do in the area, and are happy to have you for social distancing at this time. We built a 75' gaff-rigged schooner in California ourselves, sailed to the Virgin Islands and chartered our boat for 14 years, taking guests on an all inclusive week's cruise. We also built a home in Hull Bay, St. Thomas and did weekly rentals there. We enjoy sharing our sea stories (true) with any guest who wants to visit us during their stay.

Response from the owner Thank you so much! We are always so glad to see you and share our paradise with you. Our local town of Marion is growing with restaurants, pubs, breweries, and art in the past 3 years. We are getting more visitors to "the gateway to the mountains." Asheville is only 30 minuets away but is hosting 10,000 visitors a day, so our little private cove is a great retreat from the city. Life is good! And guests like you make it spectacular!
