“Absolutely Wonderful & Perfect!” I would most definitely recommend Casa Frida to anyone looking for a place to stay in Merida! My husband and I felt like Katia and her mother, Patricia, went the extra mile to meet our every need. They made my family feel at home and welcome throughout our entire stay. The house was clean, beautiful and cozy! They provide you with cookware, utensils, etc. which made my stay with 2 children a lot easier!! The aC kept us nice and cool throughout our stay, as well as the gorgeous pool in the patio. The temperature of the water was perfect, and laying in the hammock was very relaxing. The neighborhood was friendly, safe and peaceful. There are many restaurants and stores close by, as well as the Centro Historico. I would absolutely recommend Casa Frida to anyone that is looking for a vacation rental! Whether it be for a family or a couple, you can't go wrong with this beautiful house. Thanks again Katia and Patricia for making our stay a very special one! We hope to see you again soon! - Diana & Mauricio

“A little paradise!” I stayed at Sophie's house in Merida twice with some friends. The house is very beautiful, and huge! The two rooms are really far apart, and both have toilets, which is perfect for privacy. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, and there's a nice dinning room. But the real highlight of the house is the backward. There's a part of it that has a ceiling and hammocs, which is perfect to relax when the sun is too hot, and even when it rains. And to pool is amazing too! Apart from that, the house is well-located and you can easily walk to the center and the shops and markets to buy some food. I had a great time there both times and wouldn't hesitate to go back anytime!

“Even better the pictures/videos portrayed.” Sanda,Steve and the staff were very helpful from start to finish. We absolutely loved the house and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. It is a beautiful Colonial home, decorated to a high standard and offers total privacy. This was our first visit to Mexico and were unsure what to expect. Merida is a fascinating, safe and friendly City and we will return soon, When we do we will return to Casablanca Living for sure. Thanks again for sharing your superb home with us we cannot wait for the next visit. Regards, John and Tina.

“Magical Escape” My friend and I just returned from 4 amazing nights in Casa Sisal. We had spent a few days in Merida, and the trip to the country was a fantastic counterpart. As you enter the grounds, beautiful landscaping and nature surrounds you. At the center of it all is the contemporary designed house, which exceeded the already high expectations we had before we arrived! The days were warm and relaxing and magical fireflies lit up the grounds as twilight began. Cyndy' suggestions for daily outings were interesting, tasty, and offered many insights into the history and local culture of the region. The caretakers, Bartola and her sister Soco were very warm and helpful and they cooked us an outstanding regional meal, which I highly recommend. We had a great time communicating with them using an iPhone language translation app! We can't wait to return with additional friends in the near future.

“Great Food! Perfect atmosphere for relaxing!” I have stayed at the Hacienda 3 times now. The first time was just my fiancé and I. We loved it so much we went back with his family. The 3rd time was with a wonderful group of friends. This place is magnificent. Each guest room is unique - one room has 3 story high ceilings!! It's so quiet and peaceful with great massages at the spa (the bamboo is my favorite) and the food is so good, we tried to recreate one of the dishes at home. It was tasty but did not live up. Trust me when I tell you, you will not regret a visit to Hacienda Petac!

About Merida

Once a fishing village on the Yucatan Coast, the laid back beach town of Merida is now a popular vacation destination for travelers from all over the world. Visitors come here to experience the breathtaking natural beauty of the inland rainforest and endless white sand beaches of Merida. This is the perfect place to escape from the bustle of everyday life and experience an authentic Yucatan getaway.

Get the most out of your stay in Merida by booking your own luxury beach side condo or villa. Vacation rentals offer better amenities and more space than hotels and are often more affordable. In the morning, watch the sun rise over the ocean while enjoying a leisurely breakfast on your private balcony. During your time in Merida, take a guided tour of the rainforest, explore nearby Mayan ruins, go on a dolphin watching excursion, or visit a sea turtle sanctuary. Head inland as the sun goes down to experience world class seafood restaurants and an energetic, vibrant nightlife. Or, head home to your vacation rental and host a campfire on the beach for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Take a tour of the Mayan ruins of Uxmal: The majestic pyramid of Uxmal is one of the most visited ruin sites along the coast.
  • Visit the Hacienda Yaxcopoil: This preserved sprawling Yucatan plantation dates back to the seventeenth century.
  • Visit the anthropology and history museum: Explore the exhibits of this small but fascinating museum and learn more about Mayan and Spanish history and culture.
  • Explore the Zoological Park of Centenario: Located in the heart of downtown Merida, this charming, well- kept little zoo houses several native species of elusive and threatened wildlife.
  • Take a cooking class: After sampling the world-class authentic Yucatan cuisine at some of the restaurants along the coast, take a class and learn how to bring these flavors home with you.
  • Go diving: The underwater wreck and reef ecosystems off the Yucatan coast are excellent places to encounter sea turtles and other marine life.

No matter what kinds of activities and adventures you have in mind for your vacation, you'll find what you're looking for in Merid, and you won't have any trouble finding the perfect condo or vacation rental that offers all the amenities you and your family need. A vacation rental is a great place to relax, unwind, and reconnect at your own pace. While you're visiting Merida, be sure to explore some popular destinations nearby, like Tulum and Zihuatanejo.

Hacienda Petac -Merida Estate-Book the Best-Early
Paradise in the Yucatán

My family and I just stayed at the Hacienda Petac for an unforgettable week. We all knew this was going to be a beautiful trip but we all left blown away. From delicious Mexican cuisine to the hacienda's expansive landscapes, this is the place you want if you are looking for a rich experience of all that the Yucatán has to offer. The hacienda's staff made the stay even more pleasant. Each and every one of the members of staff were excellent and friendly. Hacienda Petac is a short car ride away from the Yucatán's incredible Mayan ruins and breathtaking Cenotes (a must see)! The hacienda's tour guide, Miguel, is another of Hacienda Petac's gems taking us personally to each site and sharing with us the rich history of the area. All in all, I can't recommend Hacienda Petac and the Yucatán experience enough. Treat yourself to everything it has to offer. You can thank me later!see more
Casa Limon
Great stay at Casa Limon!

We really liked our stay at Casa Limon. It was three of us, a couple and our friend. Casa Limon had all we needed: comfy beds, plenty of space, good kitchen with utensils, hot water in the shower and a working wi-fi. In the backyard we could hang the hammock for reading during the day and sit around the table in the evenings with a bottle of wine. The house is a bit far away from the center, but buses run frequently and taxi isn't that expensive either. And in the area there are plenty of restaurants and stores, so there's no need to go to the center every day. Also the Grand Museo de Mundo Maya and Plaza Grande (a big shopping mall) are only a few walkable kilometers away.see more
CASA FRIDA- MEXICAN BEAUTY-LOVELY PATIO & POOL!!
Tranquil Tropical Oasis

Enjoyed my stay in Merida and at Casa Frida very much. the owner Katia and her Mom, Patricia, went out of their way to make sure everything was as it should be and even accomodate my last minute changes due to illness in my family (Muchas Gracias!). The patio and pool was essentially my "living" room in the morning and late afternoons after exploring Merida, Campeche and the Gulf Coast. Laundry service, directions, and ideas of where to get everything from flowers to food were provide upon request and promptly. Bus service around the corner to Centro Plaza and space for a small car with off street parking a bonus. I hope to stay here again when I return to the Yucatan - thanks Katia and Patrica for your hosting me and my family in your lovely house! Peace, Ronsee more

Absolutely the Best!

Words can scarcely describe the overall experience we had during our five month stay at Sophie’s house. Everything, and I mean everything was perfect. The property is absolutely gorgeous. As soon as you walk through the hand finished custom doors you feel comfortable, welcome, and relaxed. Moving through the property your eyes are immediately drawn to the original 100 year-old hand painted tiles. The tile mosaics floors in each room are unique and different, not only imparting a dramatic sense of history, but also providing each space with its own individual charm and character. The Spanish colonial architecture of this beautifully restored property will take your breath away. The sweeping arches, stone columns, hand hewn beams, and wooden doors provide an overwhelming sense of history. For me, this served to create a truly relaxing environment ideal for contemplation, refection and creativity. Sophie’s impeccable taste is reflected in the high quality furnishings and local artwork. Unlike so many rental properties where the interior touches appear to be an afterthought, this property is clearly a home for comfortable living. The owner painstakingly saw to every detail. Your toiletries and a change of clothes are all you will need. The house has everything: linens, towels, pots, pans, kitchen utensils, dishes, silverware, you name it. The Yucatan can be hot, particularly in the Summer months, and the home’s design speaks volumes to the early architects who built these properties. The stone walls are easily two feet thick which serves to keep the house cool. The home does have air conditioning, but we never used it. We found the breeze from the ceiling fans, (each room has one), were more than sufficient for staying comfortable. The fabulous backyard pool was just the ticket after a hot afternoon of exploring the city. The covered patio, also with ceiling fans, overlooking the pool is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. During my five month stay in Merida I had the opportunity to personally view many of the homes offered here on Airbnb. I can say without the slightest reservation that this home offers much more than many of the more expensive listings. Sophie’s house is an incredible value. The property is centrally located on a quiet street within easy walking distance to all of Centro’s attractions. Merida is Mexico’s safest city and never once did I ever feel the least bit apprehensive walking through the city at any hour, day or night. Without question the best aspect of our stay in Merida was the graciousness of our host, Sophie. She went above and beyond to ensure we were completely satisfied and that all of our needs were addressed. She was always available for inquiries and her local maintenance team kept the house immaculate and in perfect order. If you are considering a trip to Merida, and I hope you are - it is truly a magical place unlike anywhere else in Mexico - do yourself a favor and seriously consider this property.see more

Casa Sisal- Exclusive Contemporary Country Home
An absolute dream

We had our wedding at Hacienda Sac Chich—it was an absolute dream. Casa Sisal’s architecture is even more outstanding than you imagine it, with each detail thoughtfully considered—from the way those enormous windows slide gently in their pockets to the waterfall showerhead in the sun-filled master bath. The master bed was heavenly, as is sleeping surrounded by the scents and sounds of the jungle before taking a quiet early morning dip. The central living area was beautiful open air or closed, day or starry night, and the great palm-lined lawn was breathtaking whether during the usual brilliant sunshine or the one gray afternoon we spent in our robes watching tropical birds stop by in the drizzle. Cyndy, Howie, and the staff were not just warm and attentive hosts but were easygoing in response to the sundry needs that came up surrounding the wedding (including providing a great list of suggested vendors). We had the staff prepare a delicious dinner to welcome our families to Mexico (a night we were surprised by fireflies), and a wedding-day brunch of fruit plates, chilaquiles, and mimosas for our guests staying across the lawn at Casa de Maquinas. The hacienda is near the small village of Acanceh, as well as a number cenotes and ruins—but we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave the grounds. Mérida, the nearest city, is about 40 minutes away and full of fantastic markets, restaurants, and bars (as well as beautiful places to stay for our guests). We daydreamed about visiting Casa Sisal before we were engaged, then dreamed about it throughout our engagement—but from the moment we walked in (past the lily pond, to the aroma of fresh-baked banana bread) it exceeded those dreams. It’s a truly special place run by truly special people, and we can’t wait to visit again.see more
