Description from owner

Description

This beautifully-appointed open plan ground floor apartment is positioned right in the heart of the quaint harbour town of Mousehole, West Cornwall. Perfectly positioned for a taste of village life, it’s just moments from the harbours edge, and close to local restaurants and pubs, making it an ideal retreat for couples.

Steeped in mystery and myth, this studio formally known as “Who Knows” once functioned as a fish cellar, where mariners would come to process their catch. Now 300 years on, a mix of clever craftsmanship and exquisite interiors has transformed this industrial cellar into a unique Boutique Retreat.

Living

Glimpse inside this intriguing home, and you could be forgiven for thinking you’d been transported to a trendy New York Loft Apartment as ‘The Old Fish Cellar’ redefines coastal living.

Maintaining many of the original features, and with a nod to it’s industrial past, the beguiling use of textures and materials along with the light crisp interiors, offsets this striking palette of blacks and greys.

The living area exudes contemporary comfort, with a 1950s inspired deep seat button back sofa positioned perfectly for warming your toes in-front of the award winning locally designed ‘Hot Pod’ wood burner. With Blu-Ray player, smart TV and Bluetooth Radio and iPod Dock you won’t be short of entertainment.

The Kitchen

With no detail over looked, the fully equipped bespoke kitchen plays backdrop to a display of carefully selected earthenware bowls and glassware, whilst the exquisite copper butler-style sink is the real star of the show! Generous in size, the kitchen is fitted with all the modern day essentials including a stylish Smeg cooker, dishwasher, washer, fridge / freezer, Dualit toaster and top of the range Delonghi coffee machine. The addition of the Reclaimed wooden Workbench as dining table, makes this the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two!

Bed and Bath

You’ll sleep well in ‘The Old Fish Cellar’s’ sumptuous hand-made, luxury king size bed adorned with superior goose feather and down bedding, and ultra soft Egyptian cotton linens, with the addition of traditional wooden window shutters throughout making early nights and lazy lie-ins all the more tempting.

Ideally located, just off the bedroom is the en-suite. Divided by a great sliding steel Fish Store door, this stylish space, complete with reclaimed geometric tiles, is the ultimate wet room. Add an air-injected rain head shower, underfloor heating and luxurious soft cotton towels and it’s the perfect place to unwind after long coastal walks.

Whilst modest in size, this compact retreat has been well thought out, creating a true sense of space in luxurious surroundings. As one of our most creative and stylish spaces, it’s a must visit whether you’re looking for a dynamic base to explore Mousehole and West Cornwall from or somewhere to bunker down in the winter for some R&R.

Parking

Like most properties in Mousehole, The Old Fish Cellar doesn’t have it’s own allocated parking space, however you can do a bag drop outside and then parking is available in either of the harbour car parks for £3 a day or £15 for a week.
