Description
Mortreth is a modern, spacious 3-bedroom end row cottage in the seaside village of Porthtowan, just 5 minutes off the A30. It is a short walk from the beach and the village's many amenities.
Most importantly for the last 5 years our housekeeper is the lovely Wendy, whose day job is Duty Manager at a local Care Home. Consequently cleanliness is exceptional and even more so in these days of COVID-19.
With a balcony overlooking the bay Mortreth is a modern open plan property with a fully fitted kitchen; separate dining area, and a bright, airy living area. The open plan lounge and dining areas lead through patio doors to the private balcony with views of the bay and beach and it's a great place to watch the sun go down. Alternatively relax in the cottage garden and catch the last of the evening sun. With two doubles, one twin bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge this an ideal family holiday home.
The cottage comes equipped with a stairgate, high chair, travel cot, bathroom step, childs loo seat, electrical socket covers and the garden is gated making it toddler friendly.
Porthtowan is a small village nestling into the cliffs of the north coast of Cornwall. It is set in an attractive cove with a large, sandy, blue flag beach bordered by rock pools. It lies on the National Trust Coast Path and the main attractions of Cornwall are all within easy reach.

Mortreth was completely renovated in Spring 2008 and it is refurbished each January and consequently it is in excellent order throughout:Bedrooms - The master bedroom is upstairs with the second and third bedrooms on the ground floor. The master bedroom contains a new king-size bed and has ensuite facilities with seperate shower room. Bedroom two contains a double bed and bedroom three, two single beds.Bathroom - The bathroom is fresh, clean and modern and has a large corner bath with shower over. Laundry room - contains a new washing machine and a separate, new, tumble dryer. To avoid you having to fill your car with beach paraphernalia in addition to bed linen and towels we provide separate beach towels, beach toys (buckets, spades, fishing nets and boogie boards) and beach chairs. For those with little ones we also have a travel cot, high chair, step up and stair gate.

To the front of the property there is a balcony with a view of the beach and sea and four chairs and a table. To the rear there is a small, private, gated garden with two new wooden benches and a further table with four chairs. There is an allocated parking space to the front of the property and a private lane to the rear where most people chose to park.

“Great”

“Great family beach style house”
Fantastic house that we have returned to . Love it . Great location close to beach which is great for waves and body boarding. Great facilities at the house for washing down wetsuits . Comfy well equipped house . Fantastic communication from the owner . House very clean and great to have table and chairs outside for enjoying breakfasts / drinks etc . Love this place . Thanks Mark

“Mortreth Cottage Porthtowan”
The cottage is well presented, beautifully clean and offers all the home comforts you could need. A welcome pack of bread, butter & milk is a lovely idea. The fact that the hosts provide everything you could need for the perfect beach holiday makes such a difference, not having to bring your own boards and beach towels is a joy! Porthtowan is a fabulous Sandy cove with a huge beach, rock pools and of course surf! Places to eat range from the Unicorn where you need to book, the chip shop and of course the beachside BlueBar. Where good food, drink & views are plentiful. We couldn’t recommend this cottage highly enough it’s perfect for a Cornish Getaway. Photos show the interior & the view from the balcony.
