Description from owner

Description

A lovely spacious cottage for two people. The Pottery is a couple of miles from the village of Ewyas Harold, on the edge of the Golden Valley, with great views over gorgeous rolling countryside towards the Welsh Border. Just perfect for a peaceful getaway, with walks galore and great food on the doorstep.

The cottage used to be a working pottery, hence its name, and there are some wonderful old features, like oak beams and exposed stone work that give it buckets of character. It's a bit of a Tardis inside too, with a good sized kitchen, bathroom (with shower over a bath), upstairs bedroom and a large sitting room.

The Pottery has a homely feel with all the usual mod cons, though please note, there's no Wifi - so a real chance to escape from it all! The bedroom is up a small flight of stairs - downstairs there's the kitchen, bathroom with a bath (and a shower over the bath), and a spacious sitting room.

There's parking next to the Pottery, and the cottage faces onto the owner's colourful garden. Their home is a short distance from the cottage, further up the driveway.

Rowlestone's small picturesque Norman church, St Peter's, with its renowned stone carvings is behind the cottage, and the biggest treat of all (March-October) is you can buy ice-cream next door at Rowlestone Court Farm.

No need to travel far to eat out either - Ewyas Harold is just a few minutes drive and has two pubs serving food, as well as a popular Fish and Chip shop. There's also a village store, Post Office and two Butchers.

Rowlestone is a great base to explore the wonderful Wye Valley - and the Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons are within easy reach too.

If you want a change from wide open spaces, then why not take a trip to the Cathedral city of Hereford (25 mins), or Abergavenny with its bustling markets (25 mins), the pretty border town of Monmouth (35 mins), or beautiful, book-tastic Hay-on-Wye! (45 mins). And if you fancy going a little further afield, Bristol, Cardiff, Chepstow, Worcester and Cheltenham are all within easy reach.
