“Ash Tree Cottage, Mount Hawke”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2021

This cottage is perfectly located. It is a very short journey to places like St Ives and Newquay and ideally located for slightly longer days out. The cottage is situated in Mount Hawke. There is a decent sized convenience store 4 minutes walk away and a smaller village shop 50 yards down the road. The cottage has a nice living room with log burning stove, kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs is a generously spaced double room, decent sized single room and another bedroom with bunk beds. The bathroom has bath and shower (easy to use amd decent temperature control). The cottage has a small front garden and in the shed is a tumble drier. We recommend getting the train to St Ives (from Redruth) due to parking being limited in St Ives. We were unlucky with the weather but despite this, the landscape on both the north and south coasts are well worth the trips. Lizard point is lovely and Tintagel Castle was great too but you need to check the tide times if you want to go into Merlins Cave. Despite visiting Lands End because it is an iconic location, I would not go back there. It has been heavily commercialised and you have to queue and pay for your picture at the sign post. The shops and activities are very much child related so if you go, be prepared to spend money! All in all though, a thoroughly great week.
