Response from the manager How wonderful that you joined the ever increasing number of guests arriving by steam train. Since your visit we have installed a beautiful new kitchen with larger appliances and two fridges and other space saving solutions. Plus we have had a bespoke oak table built for the dining area to give more room. The local Eskdale Stores are open 7 days a week and stock most things if guests run out of supplies. Thank you for your lovely review. Best wishes from the team at Select Cottages.

“Bridge End Farm, Holiday Cottages, Boot; inthe ESk Valley.”

Reviewed 14 Feb 2016

We rented Wrynose Cottage sleeping 2 in the summer and Scafell Cottage sleeping 8; later in the autumn. Bridge End Farm holiday cottages are nestled in the Esk Valley at Boot; every cottage is fully equipped to cater for a comfortable stay at any time in the holiday season. There are cottages that sleeps 10 people and everything is in place and offers as much space needed' there are also beautiful cottages for 2 that gives couples privacy and seclusion. All the cottages are beautifully cared for by the housekeeper Amy and Bob the caretaker/manager locally based to help guests during their stay, his knowledge is insurmountable and Greg the owner, who we met during our last stay, works tirelessly to ensure you have a memorable stay. Everything at Bride End is there to people a wonderful time and a holiday to remember long after you return home. We look forward to returning later on this year. Moira & Richard Oldham

“Great return trip to Boot in the Lake District”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2015

This was the second time we have stayed at Bridge End Cottages, taking two of the cottages this time for 13 adults. Went in March last time. Loads of character. Very comfortable and plenty of room. Nice to be in a quiet spot but with nice pubs near. Had a lovely dinner at Brook House in the village, and also popped in for the odd drink.

Response from the manager Thank you for your very helpful comments. We are sorry we had not noticed the cot screws had worked themselves loose. The cot and high chair have been replaced and we could not find any problem with the stair gates. Scafell Cottage is over 400 years old and a Grade 2 Listed building of historic importance. The beams are part of the listing and cannot be altered, they are an integral part of this historic building so we have had to put in two sets of stairs. The stairs and galleried bedroom do of course conform to building regulations. The galleried bedroom is a popular feature of the cottage, it has a regulation balustrade and full length heavy curtain for privacy. Our paddock is large and walled on all sides apart from the stream which has our picnic spot besides it. In our advertising literature we mention that the stream runs through our grounds and that we have a picnic spot beside it, so that parents with young children know this in advance of their visit and can then take due care and attention of their little ones. The Lake District National Park authority specifically requested there be no formal gardens or fencing.
