“Truly enchanting!”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2014

This rainforest hideaway is indeed enchanting as were Connie and andrew who make you feel like dear old friends. We originally planned to re-explore the Hilo side of the island, but because of the peaceful, soul soothing seclusion of the hideaway, we rarely left. The cabin is absolutely delightful - ultra clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, well maintained, and stocked with everything (and I do mean everything) you could possibly need. The screened, open air living area, the outdoor shower, and the coqui frogs were icing on the cake! We lost ourselves by the hours just sitting, listening to the soul soothing sounds of the rainforest, and allowing our spirits to be renewed. Our only disappointment - 4 nights was way too short of a stay. Thank you Connie and andrew for sharing your piece of paradise!

“Magical”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2013

Connie and andrew's place is something out of paradise. It's even more gorgeous than in the pictures, and they supply absolutely everything you could want. We had a great time there. Watch out for the frogs in the region though -- loud!

“The best place to stay”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

We stayed in this awesome rainforest cabin for our honeymoon. The owners are gracious and totally accommodating. The grounds are clean & in excellent shape! The cabin is beautiful! The ambiance is more than we expected and we would stay there again anytime and recommend it to anyone! Easy access yet you feel like you're in a jungle!

“I'll see you in my dreams”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

I couldn't find anything to complain about this place if I tried. Sure it rained, but it's in a rainforest! It's quite relaxing listening to it on the roof at night and now that we've gone, I really missed hearing it. The hideaway is exactly that -- a hideaway. Quiet, secluded and peaceful. Stock up on food and you'll be tempted never to leave the property. But as tempting as that is, there are just too many great places to go nearby. It's an easy day trip to anywhere on the island. We went on all kinds of beach and hiking adventures everyday, and it was always such a pleasure to come back to the cottage at night, have a nice hot outdoor shower (even better in the rain) cook some dinner, have a cup of tea, and let the frogs lull you to sleep. There are so many places to see in this world, I don't know if we'll ever get a chance to go back there again, but even if we don't, I know one thing: we'll be going back again and again in our daydreams.

“Be one with the rainforest!! Elegant simplicity.”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2013

We stayed at the Rainforest house during our first trip to Hawaii. After a week on the dry Kailua - Kona side of the island, what a change to enter the green lush fertile rainforest on the Hilo side! This gorgeous cottage lets you be a part of the rainforest -- the windows in the spacious living room are all screen, so you really feel like you're sleeping right in the forest (but with less mosquitoes)! The night sounds are wonderful! A great place for imagination and creativity. The bedroom was elegant and beautifully furnished, and the teenagers just loved the outdoor shower! The hosts are excellent guides with many unique suggestions for the area. We would definitely stay here longer next time! Close to beaches, volcano, waterfalls, farmer's markets!

“Colorful Beautiful Hideaway”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2013

Rainforest hideaway is the best name for this cottage. We liked it very much to stay there. Connie and andrew came with theirs two dogs to welcome us in the cottage - very nice and relaxed people. The cottage is furnished with much love for details e.g. fresh flowers, soap and lotion, bamboo armchairs and so on. The outdoor shower was great! The cottage has a bedroom, a big living room, bathroom and a big kitchen. There was also a washer and dryer for free. The location in the Puna District is perfect to do the Lava Boat Tour (highly recommended!) or to swim in the hot pools on the coastline. It is only half an hour away from Hilo airport. The Puna District is one of the areas where the Coqui frogs from Costa Rica found a new home. So you will hear there "singing" the whole evening and night - no problem for us we had earplugs - and with this sound it feels more to be in a rainforest. The cottage has no windows, only grids against insects. So it could be a little clammy at night or a rainy day. There was no Wifi but an Internet-Usb-stick. It was a very nice experience to stay in this little colorful hideaway and we will recommend it warmly. Thank you Connie and andrew for everything, M+C.

Response from the owner Thank you M+C for the kind review. We enjoyed meeting you and having you stay at the house. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I would like to make one small correction. Yes, most of the house is screened in and has ceiling fans to keep the circulation of air flowing through the house, but the bedroom does have locking glass windows and doors for security and comfort. Thanks again, with aloha and gratitude, Connie and Andrew

“Perfect Vacation”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2013

Rainforest Hideaway may have spoiled me for all other properties. The space was beautiful and so well maintained--Connie and andrew have thought of everything you could possibly need, including things you never considered. I felt more comfortable than any 5-star resort could have ever accomplished. I would literally go back to Hilo again just to stay at Rainforest Hideaway. Connie and andrew, thank you so much for sharing the home with us, we could not have enjoyed it more.

“Absolutely Enchanting”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2013

This property is a gem! The deck for outdoor dining, the open-air shower, the sounds of the rain forest creatures, the seclusion, the breezy sitting room...it's all exactly what you would want in a romantic getaway. In addition, the house was spotlessly clean and every little item you could possibly need in a kitchen or bathroom was provided: spices, cooking supplies, lotions, shampoos. Don't worry if you forgot to pack something; you'll definitely find it. While the Big Island is big (no surprise!) and you'll do a lot of driving if you want to visit Kona and other places, there is a lot to do right in Puna and a lot fewer tourists than you will find elsewhere.

Response from the owner Thank you Jennifer for the kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our Rainforest cabin. We hope to see you again. Best to you always. With aloha and gratitude, Connie and Andrew

“Just a wonderful place to stay”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2013

I cannot imagine a more pleasant or private place available to the public. My wife and I had to keep reminding ourselves to get out a see the usual sights around the island because the temptation was so great to just hang out at the property all day. Beautiful bird songs all day and, of course, the frogs at night. Yes, they are loud but my wife had no problem sleeping with earplugs and I sleep well with the musical sound in my ears. Would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises!

Response from the owner Thank you Roy and Amy for your kind review and the mindfullness shown towards the house. You have the distinction of leaving the house the cleanest of any guest EVER. (rated by my housekeepers) That is something special as everyone leaves the house pretty clean! Thank you again, we wish you both the best. With aloha and gratitude, Connie and Andrew

“Clean and comfortable ... in the jungle!”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2013

A perfect, private, experience in a jungle setting with all the comforts. We especially loved the screened sitting room area which allowed us to be in the rainforest and in comfort. The place was spotlessly clean. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. Great internet service, too. Andrew and Connie thought of everything here.

Response from the owner Thank you Jen for your kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin, and that Michael had the bacon doughnut experience. We wish you the best and look forward to seeing you again With aloha and gratitude, Connie and Andrew
