Peace, relaxation, solitude, luxury, with only the breeze or the cry of a soaring hawk to break the silence.....all surrounded by a 100-acre nature preserve with turkeys, bobcats, deer, and even an occasional bear. Just seven miles from the center of eclectic and historic Asheville, North Carolina, and close to a host of Western North Carolina attractions and activities. A uniquely constructed home that seamlessly blends with its mountain environment, the home features a 22-foot-high cathedral ceiling, three large stone fireplaces (one in the living room, one in the master bedroom and one in the downstairs living room), and includes all the usual amenities plus a 4-person hot tub on the terrace, broadband Internet, a surround sound system throughout the house and unlimited U.S. long distance calling. Completely furnished, it will comfortably accommodate 12 people. We welcome up to two pets with an additional fee.

The oversized master bedroom on the first floor has a king bed, 32" flat screen smart TV, reclining chair and stone fireplace. The master bath features a sunken tub, a separate porcelain tile shower and two sinks. The second bedroom features a queen bed. The second bathroom has a shower and a single sink. The third bedroom is furnished with two twin beds and is in the loft. The fourth bedroom is on the lower level and has a king bed.

The fifth bedroom is on the lower level and has a queen bed. The living room on the first floor has a large flat screen smart TV, DVD, stone wood burning fireplace and large sofa. Four of the bedrooms have long range mountain views. All linens and towels provided.

The home is split into three levels you will be renting all three levels - 4500 sq ft. The 1200 sq ft of outside decking and 400 sq ft of terrace offers privacy for the perfect place to relax (and while no smoking is allowed inside, smoking is permitted on the deck). With the gas grill, it’s also the perfect place to cook and dine. Or enjoy preparing gourmet meals in the fully equipped kitchen as you enjoy the mountain vistas. The kitchen includes full-size appliances, including refrigerator with ice/water in the door, electric stove with self-cleaning oven, dishwasher, and microwave and a kitchenette on the lower level. You’ll find sharp knives, a multitude of pots, pans and baking dishes, pizza pans, hand mixer, toaster, blender, and coffee grinder and maker. There’s also a full-size washer and dryer for your convenience.

Lush, green and serene, the home is remarkably close to historic Asheville, with abundant shopping, dining, arts, and entertainment. Just 9 miles away is the world famous Biltmore House. Also visit the world famous Grove Park Inn & Spa less than 6 miles away, walk around Beaver Lake or Lake Louise, or picnic alongside the French Broad River only a 2 mile drive. Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway, just 9 miles away.

Other area attractions and activities include: the quaint town of Weaverville, the 435-acre North Carolina Arboretum, the Pisgah National Forest (mountain biking, swimming, hiking), horseback riding, balloon rides, skiing at Wolf Laurel (19 miles), relaxing at the historic Hot Springs Spa (30 miles), Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, and, of course, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

But then you may find you’d just rather stay home and sit on the deck with a good book.

We have zero tolerance for excessive drinking and disorderly conduct. Such actions put everyone at risk of getting hurt. The safety of our guests and the comfort of our neighbors is our priority. Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 8 am. No bachelorette or bachelor party groups. No wedding groups (except family groups). Must be over 25 years old to book. No sorority or fraternity groups.

When we arrived, we were met with a friendly smile, a lot of information, a good quick tour of the location, and a bottle of wine with two glasses. We wanted a pet friendly place, and I kind of expected some evidence of other pets - smell, scratches, etc. We found nothing of the kind. Which is great when one of us also has asthma and would be sensitive to a dirty place. For the holiday season, they even had a tree in the corner. The fireplace is great. The great room is huge. And the views were terrific. The bedrooms were more than enough for us. Master bedroom was huge and kids enjoyed the second floor space with two twin beds and a TV. We came to visit the asheville river arts district and to take our kids on the Great Smoky RailRoad Polar Express Tour. Both events were close enough. But we also stopped by the Biltmore and the National GingerBread House Contest at the Grove Park Inn. (Got a nice tip - pay for a morning massage at the Grove Park and get use of their spa facilities all day). I'm a runner, so the high grade gravel road to the house was not to my liking for that. Altitude, steep hill, thin road that was a bit slippery. But I also went just a bit higher than the house to the RV Campground and not only found great hilltop views, but also tons of trails that wound around the hills. These would be terrific for exploring with the kids and dogs on another trip. We will definitely look to this house first for a return trip. I should note that though the house felt very remote, anything we wanted was close by. We had a need for a pharmacy and groceries right away and they were quick to get to. We even found a decent Thai restaurant in a strip mall close by. Other restaurants looked good. But the proximity to downtown and the River arts area was surprising. Had to be only three highway exits away and no traffic.

It was great...very clean and everything you could possibly want in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable! It was also nice having fire wood available for a fire every night. Great convenient location. We would definitely rent this house again.
