“Peaceful”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

We visited the Bali House on a trip to celebrate our anniversary. It couldn't have been more perfect! Tim met us upon arrival and showed us the property. There was wine waiting for us in the fridge, which was lovely. The house is beautifully furnished and appointed in an exotic style with a beautiful Buddhist altar being the perfect heart of the house. There is a full kitchen, a hot tub and two separate sleeping areas. The hot tub was lovely for a soak after a day of exploring Volcanoes National Park. There is a washer/dryer which made it nice to be able to pack clean clothes before we headed to our next stop. There is a beautiful black sand beach across the street, but unfortunately we didn't get to spend time there - we will have to visit again! It's about 30 minutes to the nearest town, so if you are in search of a nightlife and party spot, this isn't the place for you. However, if you want to feel like you are literally in the middle of the rainforest you will love Bali House! We fell asleep listening to the surf and the frogs, and woke to the sound of rain on the roof. Everywhere we looked there was something new to see - baby pineapples in the garden, a friendly gecko in the bathroom (we called him/her Java!) and beautiful views from the lanai! Iliani was very helpful from the moment we first sent an inquiry about the house. She answered every question quickly and graciously. She and Tim are wonderful hosts and provided a wonderful retreat! I would highly recommend Bali House to anyone who would like to experience the Big Island up close and personal. I truly hope we are able to visit again! Mahalo! Julie & Dave

Response from the owner Aloha Julie and Dave, Mahalo Nui Loa for your wonderful review. We are so honored to have Hosted you two and cannot wait for guys to return us soon. A Hui Ho! With all our aloha, Tim and Iliahi

“Amazingly beautiful!”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2013

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The yard is artfully landscaped and the architecture of the house needs to be experienced to be believed. Each room is like being in a Balinese museum with windows looking out to the ocean. The bathroom is all ocean lava rock, it is beyond gorgeous and luxurious. The whole place was immaculate and beautiful. This house is directly across the street from Kehena black sand beach with no buildings on the ocean side. Walk right out and down the path you are on the beach and it's very unusual with the black sand. Iliahi and Tim are helpful and pleasant hosts. We plan to come back and have sent photos to all our friends and family. Thanks for a fabulous vacation!

Response from the owner Mahalo Nui Loa! We cannot wait to Host you again:)

Dear Ili & Tim, Your place is a Sanctuary, we had a string of perfect moments here! Your aloha spirit permeates the atmosphere. The Bali House was beyond compare, no detail was overlooked. and everything was perfect. Thank you for your kindness and welcome. The soundscape and landscape are amazing, we look forward to coming back (& telling our friends all about this amazing place and how beautiful the Bali House at Kehena. Best Regards and Mahalo! Trevor

“The best stay in Hawai'i”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

We went to Hawai'i for the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo. This was the closest accommodation we could possibly get. It was a stroke of luck that we ended up there. Janet was super kind. If you haven't ever experiences aloha you certainly will here! The bedroom was a little tight, but we found it comfortable, the bathroom was great. No air conditioning was needed. We cranked open the windows at night and enjoyed the sound of the nearby ocean and the frogs were a surprise to say the least but if you don't mind them its actually kind of soothing. The downstairs was open and really nice to just sit and enjoy. The kitchen was ample enough. I would recommend picking up fresh food from the local market and making your own downstairs! It was really a place where you could experience the real Hawai'i!

Response from the owner Aloha Mike, Mahalo for the great review, we have opened up the Bali House now for rental last year since you came out for the Bali Cottage 2 yrs ago. It is double the space and you love it. A Hui Ho! Tim and Iliahi
