“Puts the "ahh" back in "awesome"”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2013

The following description can only begin to illustrate what a lovely place this is. Look at the pictures, it is actually as good as they promise. The house is beautifully situated on a hill side overlooking sea and forests. It is convenient as well as romantic. Our youngest spent a lot of time exploring new angels from which you could see through the house and the many balconies. From the house we saw - not glimpsed, but observed up close and for sometimes extended periods of time: A sloth, monkeys, armadillos, a giant toad, hummingbirds, lots of colorful birds, lizards, land crabs and a poisonous frog. All though we kept the doors and windows open night and day when we were home, we saw no unwelcome creatures inside the house. Only the geckos who hunted along the ceilings during the night. Howler monkeys howled when the sun set and rose. The area provided excellent possibilities for rest and recreation: We tried mangrove kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, white water rafting and zip-lining. All arranged by the care taker's daughter and all within 30 minutes drive from the house, where we were picked up for the tours. We walked the 10 minutes to the closest "secret" beach or drove for five minutes to get to the more public, but far from crowded, wide beach. Every night we ate at a new restaurant of which there are plenty within walking distance. Some nights we also drove the 10 minutes to Quepos, the nearest town. Any needs we might discover during our stay was taken immediately care of by the caretaker. The only drawback of the place is that it is inaccessible to people with disabilities. The price of the breathtaking view is a stair with exactly 100 rather breathtaking steps from the road to the door. All in all a very nice place to spend your holidays.

“Absolutely Beautiful!”

The other day I was driving home from work and I saw a billboard advertising for vacations in Costa Rica, and I couldn't believe it: the picture was almost the exact same view of the coastline of Manuel antonio park that you got from the second floor balcony and bedroom windows of this vacation rental! My boyfriend and I stayed there for a week in March and had a wonderful experience. It was relatively easy to get there from the San Jose airport, we took a very reasonably priced small airplane to land near Puntarenas and then a cab from there. The house itself feels like a grand tree house, very open and airy with two great balconies. The first floor is all windows overlooking the tropical landscape and the terrace has this awesome hammock that we would fight over; the second floor has 2 bedrooms. There was no air conditioning when we went but we were pretty comfortable with the fans and windows open. We put up the mosquito net although there were surprisingly few mosquitoes -but lots of little harmless bugs. The kitchen was well stocked; we found a blender and had smoothies everyday (you are nicely situated by several places to eat). There are two beaches within walking distance, one which allows you to walk into Miguel antonio park - has cabanas/umbrellas for rent and a few places to eat. The second beach is slightly less popular and a little harder to find. The beach there, though, was my favorite. A gorgeous lagoon with calm water surrounded by jungle and after we found it we spent the next 4 days there. Both beaches have an interesting assortment of wildlife. A word of caution though, these aren't easy strolls; the area is steep. (It is possible to take a cab to the trails, however). . Overall: Beautiful vacation rental in a tropical setting. We had an amazing time and would go back for a visit in a heartbeat. We would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone interested as long as they're comfortable with getting a bit of exercise.

“breathtaking!”

We spent a few days touring in Monteverde and arenal, but the highlight of my trip to CR with my two teens and a teen friend was the week at Casa Neruda. Easy to find by our cab via scenic ride, we were greeted by the smiling caretaker and our bags enjoyed the elevator lift up to the breezy, beautiful, lovingly furnished house with truly spectacular views. We enjoyed our days of treks to sweet secluded beaches, kayaking, monkey and bird watching, and hours relaxing on the multitude of porches and with comfy relaxing homey touches. Every where you look was something beautiful, a view, a butterfly. We relaxed with books, games and even internet. And strolled to town for meals and enjoyed the simple local bus trip to buy delicious produce and had wonderful meals in the well stocked kitchen. We had door to door service for an amazing rafting trip and made friends with locals on the way! We could not stop taking pictures of the beautiful sky and sea framed by the multitude of windows.
