Description from owner

Description

A superbly located beachfront cottage ideal for couples and families. Still retaining the original Coastguard's 'look out' the cottage also has the benefit of parking for 2 cars.

The cottage has a safe enclosed courtyard with picnic table shaded by a gnarled old grape vine, in front of the property the old coastguard's parade ground has been converted into tennis courts for public use.

Downstairs the cottage has stripped floorboards throughout. There is a bright and airy kitchen/diner and a comfortable sitting room, with an open fire overlooking the tennis courts and bay. The wet room with loo is on this ground floor level. On the first floor the main bedroom has a four-poster 4'6" double bed, positioned to overlook the bay. Off this bedroom is the original Coastguard's "look out". The second smaller bedroom has a 5' zip & link bed (can be two 2'6" twin beds). The family bathroom is on this first floor and has a roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. The third, loft-style bedroom is accessed from the second bedroom up a small enclosed staircase and has a 2'6" bed, we suggest more suitable for a child or teenager as it has a sloping ceiling, lovely views over the bay. Before booking please ensure you are happy with the bedroom configuration.

Famed for its oysters, Whitstable boasts many restaurants and the North Kent coast offers plenty to explore all year round, with the Cathedral city of Canterbury only 8 miles away. The historic harbour is still active and has a renowned daily fish market. Harbour Street has many art galleries and artisan shops.

The cottage works well for families, 2 couples sharing or just one couple who like to have the views, parking and a little more space.

The property is an end of terrace 19th century cottage in a quiet location, not suitable for house parties. Coastguard's Cottage sleeps a maximum of 5 guests, please do not exceed.

Bed linen, t-towels and bath mats are included, we don't provide towels please bring your own.

“Amazing”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2022

We stayed at the cottage for 3 nights, 3 adults and 2 children. The cottage is beautifully decorated, spacious and airy with lovely views. It has everything you could need and more, comfy beds, lovely courtyard and 2 parking spaces which are a must ! The owner was so helpful and accommodating and left a welcome pack which was a lovely touch. The location is spot on, 2 minutes from the beach, shops and restaurants. Would recommend Windy stores cafe for breakfast, harbour garden if you like sea food, neptunes pub for great views and birdies for a lovely dinner. I couldn’t fault anything about the cottage, we’ll be back !
