Description from owner

Description

Picture postcard Lakeland cottage at Broughton Bank, Cartmel, Cumbria. Easily accessible from outside the Lake District, it's ideal to reach most places in south Cumbria.

Completely renovated, very comfortable accommodation with its own drive and secluded raised garden, making it a really picturesque location all the year round as the area benefits from the mild climate generated by the Gulf Stream. The cottage is just a few yards from the owners' home, but still feels quite separate as it has its own garden and is not overlooked: you are assured a truly peaceful and relaxing setting for your holiday home.

The cottage has been designed on sustainable lines: there are solar panels on site and the underfloor heating comes from ground source. Even the materials used have been sourced sustainably: a dying pine tree was felled, cut into planks, stored and dried naturally over time and has been used to make all the doors, skirting boards and most of the stairs. Floors are made from rich walnut wood.

Broughton Bank Cottage sleeps 4, with one double and one twin bedded room. A cot and highchair are available on request. WiFi is available.

There are lots of walks nearby with all sorts of profiles, to suit all from very active to not so active. Pets are accepted but there is a small charge. A riding school, quad bike rental, motor museum, historic churches and stately home are all nearby, and it's a great base for easy access to the Lakes, with so many and varied things to do.

Situated a mile north of Cartmel in the South Lakes Peninsulas of the Lake District in the Northwest of England, it is about 2 hours' drive from Manchester. 15 miles from the M6 motorway junction 36. The nearest railway stations are at Cark and Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands.
